He was surprised when one day he saw his daughter eating rice cakes outside of his shop with friends. After tasting them himself, he realized the potential of this snack food with his daughter's help. She suggested he make them more crispy by frying them with flour instead of water like traditional Japanese rice cakes do; she also helped him make his product more attractive by dipping them in chocolate or coco syrup before serving them to customers. These new snacks were an instant hit with customers with their crisp exterior and soft inside texture. His daughter later opened her own lecithin powder bakery where she sold these snacks to customers who wanted to enjoy them without frying them themselves. It grew into a business that eventually led into Yopoko's son's hands as well as two other companies that were later started by Yopoko's grandsons and granddaughters.
