An Innocent Client
This was a great story to read. The words and people just flowed through the book. I like books that have a story, but don't drag a bunch of boring things for the author to make their quota of words. This book has a lot going for it and even some suspense. I read till my kindle ran out and finished after it was charged. If you like books with lawyers in it , you'll love this one.

Somewhat typical then bam, surprise!
Just when you think you have it figured out, the story takes a turn and then again. What at times came off a little smutty, and not needed, actually fits into character personalities which helps drive the storyline. An easy read with the a touch of complexity.

Enjoyed it more than John Grisham's last two!
I loved it! If you like Baldacci and Grisham, you will enjoy Scott Pratt. (Did someone beat me to that comment? Oh, well, they require 20 words--it's late, I'm old & tired. Buy the book, unless you're a prude!)

A bit short
A bit short, but a good story. Enthralling and difficult to stop once you've started. I'll probably check out the series.

Twists and Turns
This was one of the best legal/courtroom dramas I have read, I never knew what was coming next. Characters were well developed; legal issues carefully explained. Eager for second book in this series.

Surprisingly good, solid 4*
I was hooked by the promotions for this book and pleasantly surprised when it was actually good. Pratt's storyline is similar to those of Greg Iles and John Grisham, just not quite as lyrical. The writing is good, the characters are relatable. The primary character is well developed. The narration is probably a 3.5 star- a little dry at times but still good. I am looking forward to listening to more of Pratt's books.

Very Entertaining and Quite a Unique Storyline
I truly enjoyed reading this fiction law type novel called An Innocent Client. Although the title could have been a bit more inventive, I enjoyed the play of the title with the way the story unfolded and people and situations were swapped. I think the term 'innocent' could fairly be interpreted in more than one way. While i enjoyed the book, the writing, and the main character, Joe Dillard, along with some of the other very colorful characters peopled throughout this story, I found some of the storyline to be difficult to believe, such as Dillard's happy marriage despite almost no trust or any ability for the main character to reveal his deepest thoughts and true nature to his own spouse, a woman he supposedly loves and trusts. Healthy relationships don't work that way. There are severall formatting and editing mistakes that would not have existed if a good editor had cast her eyes over the copy. I hate to see this type of amateur mistake. It cheapens the quality of the book as a whole. I recommend Scott Pratt find himself an impartial and good editor who will correct the problems before publication. One example of such a mistake is in the events that took place in the victims hotel room where he fully undresses twice, and in cleaning up the crime scene, a vital piece of evidence that was mentioned and so, important, was left behind. These are editing mistakes that would not exist with a good editor. I would be happy to do that job and be exceptionally good at it. ( I loathe my Kindle keyboard so much that it keeps me from leaving reviews). I faced the keyboard for you, Mr Pratt, because you asked so nicely and I hope one day you will do the same for me.Overall, a solid book. I looked forward to reading it when i was doing other things. I thought about it outside of my usualreading time, and those are sure signs of a story that has hooked me and that is not an easy feat, says the girl who has read 100,000 books. Ill read from this author again. Nice job, Mr Scott Pratt. I recommend this book, suggest reading his other work and giving this author some of your reading time. You won't regret it . Time well spent.

Legal lite.
Some readers have made a favourable comparison to John Grisham, I have to say that I feel that comparison is way off the mark. The book is very light on the courtroom action with the outcome very obvious from the early stages of the book. Having said that, I found it an enjoyable read and an admirable first foray into a crowded market. The let down for me was the cliches characters, the defensive lawyer with a heart of gold and a family to match, the corrupt prosecution and police team, irascible judges, a madam straight out Dolly world and an "innocent" defendant who again from an early stage was clearly not all she seemed to be.On the up side Mr Pratt is an entertaining writer with a lot to work with.

A nice surprise
This is an author who was new to me. I was looking for something new and chose this book. It was a nice surprise! The main character, the lawyer Joe Dillard is believable and likeable. The plot has more twists than you would believe and I would be amazed if anyone guessed the ending. When I have finished this review I am going to look for book 2 in the series.A great find. Something different . Thanks to the author.

I really enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book. I admit it first caught my eye because of the coincidence of a shared surname but the reviews were encouraging and so I purchased! I do enjoy a good legal/courtroom drama and was a well thought through and plotted story. This story does not have the grittiness of Joseph Teller's tales but they are just as good as anything by Steve Martini, especially his earlier books. The only real mystery, to me, was the very final page where the author explains that this is a self published book and he'd appreciate a review on Amazon to help promote the books. I am more than happy to do so, my puzzle is why no published has not taken up his books and promoting them in bookshops? They are certainly good enough. I have also read book #2 and have the third ready to read.

Superb
Superb. I loved this story and Joe Dillard and his family as well. I have number 4 downloaded already but always read series' stories in their correct order so have number 2 in my wishlist to purchase. If it's anywhere near as good as this one I'll not be disappointed in the least.Because I'm such a picky-arse I won't let him off the hook regarding mistakes because I don't other authors. There were apostrophe errors and the odd missed word too but nothing too horrendous.I do like his dedication the start of the book as well. There were some highly amusing lines throughout despite the serious story which I appreciated along with the-most-bizarre-passage-in-a-book award for "after the cat found the dick" !!I would highly recommend this new author to anyone. Give him a try.
