Concise
A well structured text, useful as an introduction to the subject. It would have been a better text if scholarship outside of the Sunni tradition was referenced.

One of the best introductions to the Qur'an available in English
Qadhi lived in the west, but also studied with the traditional muslim scholars in the middle east. For this reason, I believe that both muslims and non-muslims can benefit from it. Most of the other books written on this subject are by orientalists. He gives us a glimpse on most of the sciences that are related to Qur'anic studies, and that are necessary to be learnt if one is to understand the Qur'an properly. Some subjects covered are: the causes of revelation, abrogation, and multiple readings of the Qu'ran.
