Junko Mizuno's Hansel & Gretel

I love Mizuno's work. This one is my least favorite of the three fairytales, but the work is great. Though it hasn't happened to this one yet, the other books (Cinderalla & Princess Mermaid) have binding problems. Overtime the glue becomes ineffective and pages will fall out. This is the publisher's fault, not the artists' though. Cute extras too, you get a sheet of stickers and cut-out paper dolls (too flimsy though since they're not made of cardstock).

I'm a huge fan of this artist and have all her books, if you're a fan of her darkly cute style, you will enjoy this

Hansel & Gretel is just another book I'm adding to my collection but I figured this one would be longer. I'm still a big fan of Junko Mizuno's artwork but not so much of her take on a classic tale.

This is one of my favorites. Junko Mizuno is a great artist. Her stuff is a tad bit raunchy, but thats what makes it so great. The story is adorable, i couldnt stop laughing. I wish the paper had been better quality though, it doesnt do her illustrations justice.

I read this volume about the same time I read Mizuno's other two books in her fairy tale trilogy, Cinderella and Princess Mermaid. This has to be my favorite out of the three, purely because of how much fun it is. As with my warning on Cinderella, if you're a parent thinking of purchasing this for a younger reader, be aware that there's adult content here. In this book you have some nudity, some violence, and in the back of the book a hinted at sex scene. None of it is particularly over the top, but I know that some are sensitive to these things so I wanted to include the warning.As with the other books, the artwork here is pretty great. You have a lot of bright colors, psychodelic landscapes, and playful character designs that Mizuno uses to her advantage. It's rather fun seeing the different ways that the people of this land get food and I can't help but wish that perhaps one day Mizuno will create more works in this world. There's a lot of untapped potential here for at least one more good story to be told, particularly about the supporting cast. I'll admit that they pretty much steal the show from our two titular characters.This is ultimately one of those books that isn't really that deep, all things considering, but it's all done in such good fun that you can't help but sit back and enjoy the ride. If I equate some romance books to potato chips and cupcakes, this book would be the equivalent of pink cotton candy. It's cute, fluffy, and is gone far sooner than you want it to be.

I ordered this because I love Junko Mizuno's art and stories. I have the Little Mermaid and it's a great quality cover and paper. Hansel and Gretel is a cute story, but the paper quality feels like it is a supermarket coloring book and the binding is absolutely worthless. The first copy I received the spine was completely separated from the cover after opening the book, so I requested a replacement. The second book also had the glue of the spin separating from the comic so I asked for another replacement. The final copy was in the same condition so I asked for a refund.Overall, I would recommend the comic itself, but do not buy this printing. It's garbage.

Junko Mizuno is a weirdo. Her art is doll like, with an adult edge of sex, drugs, and violence. In this book, she takes the classic European tale and retells it with uniquely strange flair. It's easy to get into, because of the story's routes, yet interesting because the telling of that same story is completely insane. Well worth a read

Bought this as a set for my sister. She absolutely loves them and has found them to be very inspiring.

Probably my favourite of the series! Very quirky and funny! Highly recommend anything by Junko Mizuno. Great stickers too <3
