Small sinks take the "1/2 inch" (although nothing is 1/2 inch since these are metric) - the washer are about the size of a dime, if you take your old one out. For the larger ones, that might fill a tub, or provide all the water for a shower, that is the "3/4 inch" size. The ceramic washers in are the size of a quarter. If yours are still leaking with new inserts, check your house water pressure. These don't like high pressure. Not sure of the value that is recommended, but I would guess under 80PSI. On the side of the cartridge, written as "A (or triangle) 98 04 R 90". Can't find product number. Where to measure for 3/4"** A: I removed the cartridge and measured it. It clearly was not 1/2", but did measure at 3/4". The reason for the leak is the rubber gasket/washer at the end that is worn. **Q: What are the dimensions of cartridge?** A: The cartridge is designed to fit in a 3/4 inch piped volume control or a 3/4 inch roman tub faucet.it is 2-3/8" long, 1" diameter at the threads into the valve body.' **Q: Old cartridge wouldn't budge using 17mm socket turning counter-clockwise. Didn't want to force it. Any suggestions for removing the stuck one?** A: I had the exact same problem. I put the entire faucet on the bench vise. Clamped the old cartridge in the teeth and twisted the whole faucet around till it broke free. (Have a wall mounted faucet) **Q: I ordered unit on amazon. It was too short and looks like it needs an extended control arm. How do I get the correct part number and order part?** A: Not sure I have the answer, but I have a bunch of these things in my plumbing and several of them (like in my shower--thalia handles) seem too short, but the extra length is supplied by the Grohe faucet handle.
