All around a good camera.
I've waited about a year and half to write this review to make sure I gave the camera a fair chance. I've had the camera in the field 100% of the time in multiple different locations. I also weld my own boxes for all my cameras. Bears, for some odd reason, love chewing on cameras; but being that it has been in a custum steel box all it's life, I can't really speak to its ruggedness. The Cons:The camera really needs to be set up in a location that is gaurded from the wind and has as little foliage around it as possible. I understand that this pretty much is a general rule for all trail cameras but this camera in particular needs to located with care. Otherwise, this camera will take pictures non-stop no matter what.I feel like the set-up could be a little more user friendly, however that is gettting kind nit-picky.Night time picures aren't very good. The Pros:If the camera is set up in a proper location, the battery life is really pretty good. I use Lithium batteries and will often get 6 to 8 months out of a set of batteries.I use a 32GB Ultra SanDisk and have never had any issues with the card/camera working together. The sensitivity and trigger speed is great. You will get mid-air pictures of birds in flight and pictures of animals at a full run.The IR lights really are pretty much impossible to see at night with the naked eye.All and all.I think it is a good camera. I had to move it out of some locations that other cameras work fine in due to its tendency to take non-stop pictures with the slightest breeze but once I learned how the camera behaves, I haven't had any more issues. It's small and light weight as well as pretty capable. I've tried using the video mode but it drains the batteries too rapidly so I don't use that function at all anymore. I have several other cameras from different manufactures and this one probably is near the top of the list for me.

Great trail cam
I have been using this trail cam for about 6 months. It has taken in excess of 20,000 day and night pictures. The battery life is excellent with no sign of lower capacity yet. I also have a few other model Stealth Cams and loaded with Lithium batteries they have been operating in excess of 2 yrs with not even 1 battery bar depleted yet. The picture quality is good and what I expect from a trail cam. Not all images are going to be crystal clear masterpieces because this is a trail cam. Depending on weather, sun, animal movement it is true there will be some not very good or poor pics but overall excellent results for me... again, this is a trail cam. I'd prefer a faster trigger speed, but by and large this is one of the fastest ones already for the price point. The night pictures are black and white and still of the quality I would expect. It has been outside 24/7 for the last number of months and is still like new. The controls are pretty easy to use and you can customize delaying time, photo vs video, number of shots, etc. Again, I have other models of StealthCam as well that have been in midwest weather for in excess of 2 years with no deterioration in function and still like new... with one exception, my stc-p12 model latch broke. These are excellent devices and I've been very happy with the StealthCam product line. I do also have a Bushnell and would rate it equally high, but much higher price tag so I'd buy the StealthCams. The black LED models are my preference for no glo pictures that don't spook wildlife.

I really wanted to like this camera but it just wasn't reliable enough to consistently take pics/videos
I really wanted to like this camera but it just wasn't reliable enough. It's a lot smaller than my previous cameras and when it did take pictures they were very clear. Setup was easy and battery life was very good. But the reliability just wasn't there. Based on previous review I purchased 2 of these cameras and had one set up 15 yards away from a 750 lb gravity feeder and the other was set up 15 yards from a standard 50 gal broadcast feeder. For two weeks in a row the deer have eaten 600 pounds of corn each week from the gravity feeder and there are a ton of tracks at the broadcast feeder. When I checked the camera I only had 19 pictures for the whole week on the gravity feeder camera and about 100 pics on the other. I had better luck with the videos but they didn't produce the quantity of videos that should be there for the amount of corn the deer were eating. I was in my blind and watched 10 doe around the gravity feeder from sunrise and they hung around for an hour. When I checked the camera upon leaving the blind it had not taken a single picture of the 10 deer. I was in a tree stand where the other camera was set up and watched 7 racoons eating at the feeder for an hour and then 6 doe eating for almost another hour and the camera didn't take a single picture of any of the animals that evening. The cameras always seem to get pictures of us as we were filling the feeders and I even got some amazing pictures of some crows in mid flight and various deer pictures but I always thought there weren't as many pictures as there should have been for the amount of tracks and corn the deer have been eating. When I was able to see deer first hand at the feeder and confirmed the camera didn't take any pictures of the deer I saw that evening, it just confirmed my suspicions that the cameras weren't taking as many pictures as they should have. I would check these cameras every week and each day on the weekend. I was using 16GB high speed SD cards and they never even got halfway full.Another problem I had and one that may have contributed to the camera malfunctioning was that the first time I checked the camera there was water inside the closed compartment of both cameras I purchased. There was also visible moisture inside the camera lens and IR lights.Like I said, I really liked the size and options for this camera and when it did take pictures they were very clear. Day and night and the video functions were very nice. I really wish that the camera had an option to take a pic each time it recorded a video. I have several cuddie backs that have this options and it's very useful for sorting and selecting the videos to save.

Typical overseas quality
Bought 2, sent one back immediately. The seal between the 2 halves had a gap. The next fall, the batteries had coroded in one, opened the other and water came out....had I checked it a week earlier, it would have been under warranty.

Great sound and video
Just purchased my second G45NG, first one has been out in the field for 1 year and has taken some incredible night/daytime video and sounds of elk bugling, cows meewing, deer grunts and moose calling. Very sensitive to pick up movement, had a hornet flying around camera and triggered it every few minutes. Camera has picked up Elk walking by as far a 100 ft away. Want to see for yourself, check out youtube, videos are strung together to provide a long clip. "Elk Herd - Oct 22, 2018" 12:32 minutes long, wait for the big boy at the end, also "Elk Herd October 20, 2018 Part 2" 6:16 minutes. I use camera on an external battery and is still over 12 volts after 1000+ videos in past year, live in Canada and at -35C camera still worked with no flaws of picture quality.

Utter rubbish
This - the Stealthcam G45NG camera - is a terrible and generally hopeless device.I manage a large rural business and had been relying happily on the Stealthcam G42NG cameras for security purposes (I have eleven of these). The G42NG, which is the older model, performs faultlessly. But the two Stealthcam G45NG cameras that I purchased from Amazon are awful. No matter how hard I try (and how many times I update this), the firmware lets me down every time. To put this in to context, the date and time on the camera resets itself every time the camera is used. This renders the camera meaningless, because it will not hold the correct date and time.Absurdly, the picture quality on this newer, higher-resolution camera, is noticeably poorer than the pictures taken by the older, 10mp Stealthcam G42NG.

Works great. Better then expected for the price
Works great. Better then expected for the price. So I bought another one. One word of advice, DO NOT use rechargeable NiCd or Lithium batteries. I used new fully charged rechargeable and the camera said the batteries had a 10% charge. Used new Alkaline batteries and both are still going strong (about a month later). Extremely easy to setup. Pictures are excellent.

Poor still night images
This is my second Stealthcam, the first being a g30 basic model. Yes this has black led illumination not visible red, bit I can't see any other advantage. In common with most black led models, the still images are worse than with red led illumination. Fuzzy and generally not sharp. The cheaper g30 is much clearer despite having only half the pixels but can suffer burnt out images if the subject is close. Under daylight or other artificial light quality improves and is probably the better of the two.Battery life is similar at around 8 weeks set to night time recording, range appears similar, does burn out for close images. It's ok, but I would not buy another. Support from manufacturer is poor.

Otherwise it's a good camera. Clear photos and video has audio
Five stars if it had taken photos and video. Otherwise it's a good camera. Clear photos and video has audio.
