The colour is very current. The Palm TX Handheld is lightweight and compact, so you have everything under control on the go. It fits easily into your pocket or handbag and has a protective microfibre cover. However, in view of the great new colour, you may prefer to carry it visible.

Review: Palm TX - I bought a Palm TX just over a month ago and returned it as faulty to desertcart after 3 weeks. I found it a let down. The software regularly crashed, particularly when using Versamail. Also sometimes when it crashed it would constantly reset in a vicious cycle leaving me with only one option, to perform a hard reset deleting all the data and then reload the software. This happened many times. If you use a hotmail email account I wouldn't go near this piece of kit. The Versamail email handler doesn't support hotmail, but you can reputedly access mobile hotmail through the Palm Blazer browser, this just cannot be done (or I couldn't get it to) as the Blazer browser has an annoying timeout on loading pages which prevented it. Not once could I get into hotmail, or a number of other web pages due to the browser timeout (and I have highspeed internet connection at home). But back to versamail, for the life of me I couldn't send an email with attachments no matter how many email accounts I tried. Due to software instability and the wireless benefits of this piece of kit not working properly I returned it as faulty. desertcart dealt with this superbly. In the past i've been a fan of the Palm platform and have had other palm devices, but this is my first one with wireless capabilities (and probably my last). Piece of advice, buy a Pocket PC, i've just bought the hx4700. Works like a dream, I can send attachments with emails, there's not one website which has timed out, and it hasn't crashed yet. It may cost around an extra £100 but at least it does what it says it can on the box.
Review: So good I bought it twice ... errr... - I loved my Palm TX, bought from desertcart. It is (was) my third Palm, and my fourth PDA. I upgraded from my Tungsten T to get wi-fi with WEP security. That alone makes it really great. I can update my e-mails all over the house, browse, update and synchronise documents and listen to MP3s and podcasts. I can even listen to some web radio and view movies, and play tunes on the car radio with a Belkin gizmo. OK, so far so good. After nearly two years my TX began to fail with digitiser problems. It became harder to reset the stylus until it finally failed to reset entirely. I could still work it using the buttons for weeks, but someday I had to do a hard reset, and that meant curtains as I could not set the stylus at the setup. This was a tragedy as it was a really great machine. I bought a cheap one (£100) and I was off again. I could not live without it. Consider all this. You can carry it more easily than a laptop. With a 512MB SD card it holds loads of tunes and podcasts. It synchs "Documents to Go" so that you can do drafts on the move. It has a great colour screen. I have a £10 Targus IR portable keyboard. I found that I could hardly live without it. The down sides are that (amongst other things) the browser is very limited. It works on most things, but not Wikipedia, which I can live without. Based on my experience it might be a good idea to buy a case to protect the screen. When it failed nobody would fix it - the Palm website was useless (as usual) and the listed repair places simply refused to reply. But despite the downsides I reckon it is really good value and superb quality. At the price it is worth viewing it as expendable. That annoys me as my other three old PDAs are all still working. Who fixes things nowadays? In my heart I know - the first Plam TX I bought one did not fail me, I wore it out through overuse. I plan to wear the second one out too. How else do you collect your e-mails with attachments for free in the town square in Georgiopoulis in Crete, listen to "In Our Time" podcasts in the Paris Metro and refine your last minute draft presentation in the living room? I love it. For me, the Palm TX is better than a laptop anyday.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent for documents, internet and mp3s
*by N***R on 12 January 2006*

I am very pleased with this PDA. I primarily bought it to edit Microsoft Office documents on the move. The ‘documents to go’ software is excellent, I find it more user friendly than the slimed down Microsoft versions on my old PDA. Having recently bought a wireless router for my home computer I am also very impressed with the WiFi & Bluetooth functionality. The T|X was SO much easier to connect than my home computer and the ability to rotate the screen to landscape in combination with the versatile browser means I can happily surf the internet from any point in the house. The MP3 player appears to be well thought out and happily replaces a separate unit in my pocket. The calendar and other functions all appear to be of a good standard, however I do not use it to sync with my outlook and so cannot comment on its capability in this area. Overall I am very impressed, even more so considering the relatively low price.
