Great buy to make sure that you have the right size shield
This breast shield is great! No discomfort or irritation! Just make sure that you select the right size for you.

Incredibly comfortable
These are my favorite pump shields so far. They aren't just oval, they're also slightly curved so they cup your breast without any pressure points. The tunnel is a little short which might be a problem for people with elastic nipples. I bought the 24 mm and use with a 21 mm Maymom short insert.

The short stem didn’t bother me
I’m brand new to pumping. I’m a first time mom and up until now i only ever breast fed my baby. My sister gave me her old Medea breast pump and so I’ve been using all the flanges that she had but realized that I needed to get something different. It has been so painful to pump. My nipples have been so sore and while pumping i feel like the edges of the cone pinch my skin between it and the pumping bra I use. I was limping along until I found that my Falange was too big and sucks my areola in. I guess your supposed to compare your nipple size to change. If you stimulate your nipple to pop up and it’s a little smaller then a dime then you need a 21mm. I saw these ones that have rubber along the edge and So far the pain that I was having is sooooo much better. A lot of reviews talked about how the short stem was bad for them. I’m not sure why that it. I almost wonder if they are using too big of a flange?? If your nipple is sucking so far in that it’s blocking the milk from coming out I think it’s too big. Mine were sucking in pretty far when I used the big ones. But now even when my nipples are lubricated they still don’t suck in that far. But maybe it’s a difference in anatomy? Anyway I’ll say this things I like about this product. 1 more comfortable. Doesn’t pinch my skin or hurt my nipple. 2 the shorter stem seems to get the milk into the bottle more efficiently. My milk sprays all over and would coat the inside of the flange and I could never get those drops to go into the bottle. Now there is not an inch of empty space stealing milk. And when you don’t produce a lot like me every drop counts! 3 the oval shape contours to my breast better. 4 the rubber ring doesn’t hurt so bad to be peeled off. The only thing I don’t like but is no fault of the product is that my right breast seems to leak milk onto my shirt. I think this is because of the shape of my nipple? Anyway I thought it was great the shorter stem doesn’t bother me and I needed to have a smaller size. I would recommend!

Game-Changing Shields for Pumping Comfort
When I delivered, the hospital provided a package of pump parts with the original shields, and my insurance pump came with the same ones. Although I was sized correctly by a lactation consultant, the original shields just weren’t comfortable. I constantly felt like I couldn’t move and I had to make sure my pumping bra was super tight, otherwise I was losing suction around the edge. It was frustrating and added unnecessary stress to the process. One day, I came across these Medela PersonalFit Flex shields on Amazon, and they’ve been a complete game-changer. They’re significantly more comfortable, stay in place without gaps, and don’t lose suction like the originals. Since then, I’ve switched to Medela’s collection cups, which I highly recommend if you’re looking for an upgraded setup. However, if you’re sticking with the original pump parts, these shields are an absolute must-have. They make the whole pumping experience so much easier and more comfortable!

Comfortable, made pumping less of a pain
TL;DR: comfortable, four stars for length of connector which may be too short for some users. I’m comparing these to the maymom single piece Medela replacement flange in a size 21mm which I found to be nearly identical to the Medela flange of the same type. I use these with a Spectra I found these shields to be incredibly comfortable in comparison to the typical shield, the oblong shape is definitely more ergonomic, and I like that you can rotate the position to suit your breast shape. I don’t have very stretchy nipples, so the length of the straight piece was not an issue for me. But I do see where that could be an issue for some women. I don’t think that I got more milk faster, or least not a noticeable amount. But my pumping session was far less miserable. I will note I also used the Bamboobies Pumping Lubricant and if you’re having issues with comfort I highly recommend using a lubricant. These are very easy to clean, the silicone rim could attract some hair but I store all my parts in a wet/dry bag so they don’t sit out exposed to elements in the house or office. I do think the suction is better because the fit it better. I have 38DD bust and use 21mm flanges (small) and they fit me great.

Comfortable!!!
So happy with my purchase. Definitely measure for your size because it does affect your milk supply. The standard size that the breast pump comes with is not for everyone. Also the soft, flexible rim is much more comfortable to wear than the standard hard plastic rim.

Offers a great fit - helped increase my pumping yield
I love these breast shields. The ones that typically come with the Pump In Style (I guess just the regular PersonalFit) do not work well for me - my whole nipple and areola gets pulled in no matter what size I use, and I end up only being able to get about 2 ounces total from a single session versus about 3-4+ ounces with the PersonalFit Flex shields. They really help with getting a better seal and the shape is just hands-down better for me in terms of fitting my breast shape. One downside is that the silicone around the edge has started to become detached from the harder plastic in the center after only about 6 months of use (fyi, I pump 3-4 times a day, 5 days a week). I leave them on a windowsill to dry so maybe the sun damaged them, but probably you should plan on needing to get a new pair halfway though your breastfeeding journey. Edit after reading other's reviews: Another potential problem with these flanges is that the tunnel is shorter than the regular flanges that come with the Pump In Style, which can result in your nipple reaching the end of the tunnel and touching the connector, which greatly decreases your yield. I was actually able to solve this by getting new connectors. The replacement connectors are slightly longer at the tunnel connection than the ones that are supplied with the Pump In Style, and that was enough that I no longer have this problem. The problem with the tunnel length may not be a problem for everyone, and not everyone with this problem will see it solved by switching connectors, but if you happen to just be lacking that little bit of length, then switching connectors may be a solution.

These were a life saver!
I’ll start by saying this—the flanges in the boxes don’t work for anyone with larger than “average” nipples, but how should I know if my nipples are average? I have above average nipples, I guess? At any rate, I struggled for six weeks, not realizing there were alternative size flanges that could be ordered online. Matter of fact, I didn’t even BF with my first baby because I didn’t know these existed; I just assumed the well was dry and I wasn’t able to provide for my daughter. Flash forward and a friend mentioned larger flanges and my entire world changed! The milk, oh my, was I able to produce the milk! Thanks to these little (or big, I suppose) flanges, I felt so much comfortable! Also, because they’re larger, they’re easier to clean! I could wash these by hand easily and quickly instead of waiting them to run through the dishwasher.
