Business Statistics (Barron's Business Review) (Barron's Business Review Series)

I work as a Risk manager at an investment bank dealing with data modeling and business statistics. I heard this book from my boss really happy with the book.

I used this book as a supplement to a crash course in Statistics for Graduate School. It is very good, but it can be a little skimpy on complete explaination of all the variables in an equation.One good feature of the text is that the next chapter builds on the previous. The complexity of the various statistical equations grows gradually. This is helpful in may respects, but the writer(s) assume that the reader has an EXCEPTIONAL memory and can readily recall details from 1, 2, or 3 chapters back which apply to the current text. I found myself going back and re-reading previous chapters to get a handle on the chapter I was actualy reading.Overall, the book is good but on one should try to use it as their sole book on business statistics.

Fantastic book for an introduction to statistics or as a refresher or reference. Full of intelligible examples. A great price.

book has good theory base, but very weak problems -not much practical problems.would advise for those who want to use this book as desktop book,when you need to refresh just few sections.

I really wanted to like this book. I bought it in preparation for my entry into an MBA program, hoping that it would help me teach myself a baseline of statistics (a weakness for me) before I was thrown into an actual classroom environment. However, I have had nothing but headaches with this book due to the "solutions" that are provided to the questions at the end of each chapter.Here is one example of a solution provided: .07Hope that clears everything up. I am not saying that I need to be handheld, but I believe that a book that bills itself as "Ideal for self-teaching" should have a little more by way of discussing the results of such questions, rather than simply giving me a correct number value with no explanation of the steps taken to get there. This book could really use with some more detailed explanations of the questions asked. Otherwise, I really have no idea how close or how far away from the correct answer I am.

Definitive and reliable with helping me in my work

Great reference text.

I had used this book to supplement my Stats course, but found that lots of symbols that they used were not the same. Also, the equations differed for many of the calculations. You would get the same answers, but if your busy with school, you won't have time to reconcile the two. Good book if you are trying to learn on your own though.

Nice examples and a good starting point

Who needs that fancy paper quality. If you already remind most of what you learned from university or high school from stats and need the formulas and reminders about the theory behind the formulas, this book is the book for you.

im Großen und Ganzen hat das Textbuch seine Aufgaben erfüllt. Das Unterrichtsmaterial wurde gut erklärt und man hat einige relevante Hintergrundinformationen erhalten. Das Werk ist durchaus zu vergleichen mit anderen seiner Art, und entspricht meiner Ansicht nach den generellen Standards eines Textbuches welche man heute an Universitäten, Business Schools und Fachhochschulen erwarten sollte, und auch benötigt.
