Painting Dog Portraits in Acrylics: Creating Paintings With Character and Life Paperback – November 20, 2018

I have Dave White’s book on Sea & Sky in Acrylics. It’s really great so I ordered this book Painting Dog Portraits. I am very happy with it as well. Good insight into how to paint. Clear and colorful photos. Good instructions. Great projects. Well done.

This was not my first art book that I purchased. It was the first art book that really made sense as to how to complete a beautiful project. It was very insightful and informative about painting and especially dog portraits. From how to photograph the dog to selecting colors and doing the final work, it was easy to follow. There are two projects to start you off if you wish to try them. I jumped from the reading into doing my first project of my buddy and it turned out great (not just my opinion but many who have seen it. When I showed it to my 2 1/2 year old grand daughter she instantly replied "Bentley.")

I originally came across this book at my local library. The easy to follow instructions and guide helped me to take the plunge and try my hand at a dog portrait for my dad of his 2 dogs now living across the country from him. The book was massively overdue at the library by the time I finished the painting. That tipped me over the edge into determining that I should just buy it and support the artist author. Terrific book! Please get it to help on your journey of painting dogs!

Even though I am an oil painter, this book was so helpful to me. I found it easy to “translate” the acrylic instructions to an oil format. I first got the book from our local library, but when I saw how beautiful it was, and the gorgeous paintings of the dogs, I knew I had to have a copy of my very own! My thanks to the author, Dave White, for producing this book, sharing his talent and knowledge with those who wish to paint the sweet doggies of the world!

Just started reading this book. I can’t believe the wealth of information contained in it. Initially , the author goes over basics about acrylics. Since I’m an oil painter, I found this helpful. He also goes over grounds and how to take helpful photos. This book is very motivating. Glad I purchased it.

Good guide for any one interested in painting dogs

I love the book. It has become my new bible for painting dogs. I a learning so much from this book. One of the best I have read yet.

I've been doing animal portraits for a long time but I always like to look at other people's work and see how they do things. This book was no only helpful but inspiring. It might not be as helpful for a beginning artist but I think it would show what can be done with some effort.
