Initial experience: Far superior to the Apple OEM
Presents as well-made. Firm connections, both ends. Listening over Bose Quietcomfort noise cancellation headphones (great for the subway here in NYC). Sound is great, no cut-outs, which become inevitable w Apple OEM. Bose Inline controls work. Worth the money. The Apple (though only $9) is in fact the worst reviewed Apple product on Apple's own Store website. Not at all clear why they don't provide one with some durability. This is a good buy. Will update with more if I have issues.UPDATE: This is clearly superior to Apple OEM. It isn't straightforward, testifying to actually improved sound, but I feel certain that, at the least, this has fewer cut-outs. The real proof here will be durability. The Apple model does seem designed to fail. Cables fatigue if they're subject to extensive bending, which is why you want a semi-rigid cable, provided here, and not a floppy little tail, as with the Apple OEM.

Hope this lasts more than 6-8 weeks
This is my third attempt to find an adapter that lasts more than a few weeks. I first bought the Apple adapter and it lasted about two weeks before going under. Then another brand that lasted about 8 weeks. So now I'm using this Moshi one. It seems more sturdy than the others so far and is working fine. If I can get at least one year out of it I will be satisfied. I will update this review if it goes out sooner. I've had it about 2 weeks. It is now 8/17/2019Update: 2/24/20This item worked well and there is nothing wrong with it despite the fact that the sound keeps dropping out when listening on my iPhone. What I finally realized is that the "lightning" connector Apple uses on its iPhones is a terrible design. It doesn't lock in the connector. The connector can move from side to side if you touch the cable. When it moves to one side or the other the sound just stops, and you have to re-center the connector and start over. If I hold the iPhone in my hand so the cable doesn't move it works great, but if I put the phone in my pocket and start walking...Bingo...No sound. Apple please use a different connector (USB C would be good) on your iPhones.

Better than the Apple jack
Bought the Apple 3.5mm jack to connect to my iphone Xr so that I could use my very expensive Sennheiser headset. The Apple jack was flimsy, I felt like it would fall apart at any time. And while the sound quality started out fine, after about 10 hours of use the sound quality kinda went downhill so I decided to try the Moshi. Right out of the box it's apparent the Moshi is much more solid and well built than the Apple product. Plus, in about 25 hours of use so far the sound quality is far superior to what I was getting with the Apple jack. Yes, a slight bit of loss to sound quality as opposed to plugging 3.5 jack right into iPhone Xr, but that's to be expected. And for less than $9 additional cost this is well worth the price. Thanks Moshi!

Solid adapter with great sound quality
Most people don't realize it, but these adapters all have a tiny little DAC (digital to analog converter) chip integrated. And the quality of that DAC seems to be where the price difference comes from. All of the cheap adapters I have tested so far do not come close to the audio quality provided by the Apple adapter. This one, however, does.I did not find any information what type of chip this one has, but the DAC of the USB-C version of that adapter supports 24bit/192kHz which is equivalent to what the Apple adapter supports. It is likely that this adapter has the same chip. At least I did not hear any difference in audio quality between this adapter and the Apple one.In terms of built quality, this one is much nicer than the Apple adapter. It is a bit bulkier, but not by much. It essentially feels more solid. If you are searching for an adapter with high audio and strong built quality, you will not be disappointed.

Mostly great, slightly flakey
Dongle is the best I've seen out there, especially for 3rd party headphones. All functionality on the headphone's inline remote works. Sound quality is great. Only reason not for 5 stars is that sometimes the functionality does not work and is slightly flakey. However, unplugging and trying again works.

This is the real deal with the warranty to back it up
I bought this to replace the standard (and poorly made) Apple adapter. The Apple adapter lasted less than 3 months for me personally and has a history of dying quickly. The Moshi adapter costs about 3 times as much as the Apple adapter, but comes with a 1 year warranty that can instantly be upgraded to a 3 year warranty for free simply by registering your product. I’d much rather pay more for a quality product from a company that stands by its work enough to offer a warranty of this nature. The Moshi product works well and comes with the assurance that you will not have to buy an adapter like this again for a long time. I’ll update if anything changes, but this looks like a solid purchase at first blush.UPDATE 1: Just wanted to add an update for anyone who gauges the reviews before buying something like I tend to do. It’s been one year since I bought this adapter and it is still working perfectly. My cat recently stole it and dropped it in the sink where it was exposed to water and it still works without any issue. Can’t ask for anything more of it, well worth the cost.UPDATE 2: I’ve had it for over two years now and it still works like it was brand new, thing is built to last.

Works well with several devuices.
The sound quality is excellent, but most importantly, it works with microphones and earpieces unlike all of the other adapters I bought from Amazon which only worked with audi or gave incompatible warnings. I gave a 5 rasting fro durability because it looks much more rugged than the cheap white ones, but we'll have to see how it holds up. Initial rating is five but its a lot of money to pay for an adapter (but that's thanks to @pple's proprietary technology -- maybe they'll go to USB-C in the next generation so we can cut down on these darned accessories)..
