Flashlight used in the Grimm TV series!
So, a lot of people have been searching for the brand of flashlight used in Season 1 of "Grimm". Well, this is it. If you ar a fan of the TV show and want the flashlight, here it is.Now for the review....I'll start with the bad news.It doesn't come with a case. That's the only bad thing and to be honest, I don't need a case, I just needed something to write under "bad".This is a GREAT flashlight, but the specs aren't quite right, as others have mentioned. It's 150 lumens and 3 hour battery life (using 3 AAA batteries). For years I've owned a 3 watt LED flashlight made by Rayovac, it's rated at 90 lumens and 12 hour battery life with 2 AA batteries. I always thought it was a great light, until I got this one. The Dorcy is easily twice as bright. The batteries are included as is a wrist strap. The aluminum body of the flashlight is light, but thick and well made. It has rubber o-ring seals at both ends, so it's pretty weather proof. The lens is plastic, but it's recessed, so it should last. There were some complaints about the switches having problems on these, but Dorcy has redesigned them and they are fine now. If by some chance you get one with the older faulty switch, Dorcy does have a one year warranty and they are very good about replacing defective items. For those wondering about the tailcap LED, it works great and is a nice feature. It's bright enough to see, but not annoying at all. I have yet to run down the batteries enough to see how I like the "red" indicator, but I love the soft green glow. Inside the light is a battery holder which contains the 3 AAA batteries. This is a standard deal for most 3 AAA LED flashlighs, but the Dorcy has a nice feature that I don't think is mentioned anywhere. The battery holder can be placed inside the light either way and the light works. The batteries do have to be place correctly in the holder, but the holder can go into the flashlight either way. Dorcy also sells spare holders for $2 each, so you can have a "loaded" spare. I'm really a big fan of this flashlight. For the price, you cant go wrong with this one.

alot of light in a small package
I saw this light at sears and was going to buy it, but when i checked on amazon.com the price was half what sears was selling it for in store. for the price difference i was willing to wait 2 days to have it shipped from amazon.I have been using this light for over a month now. i use it almost everyday for 10-15 minutes. the run time is pretty god and i am still on the original batteries. I also took it on a camping trip where i had it running for almost an hour straight. it didn't run hot or anything and it's still as bright as new, but towards the end of the hour i could tell that it started to flicker on/off every once in awhile. The next night it ran fine again. I have also dropped it numerous times on concrete and stuff, everything works fine so this light is very durable. there are only 2 things i don't like about this light. the green/red tailcap seems cool, but it feels really flimsy, so far it hasn't broken or fallen off yet. also you don't wan't to use this flashlight up close. at less than a foot, the light looks like a donut where the middle has no light at all. at farther distances, it blends out so you don't get this effect. Other than that this is a great flashlight. It has become my everday carry light. I would difintely buy this light again.

Very Bright for a compact AAA Flashlight
This little guy is bright. K2 Luxeon LED's are amazing little devices.I also purchased a K2 Luxeon LED upgrade kit for an old mini-mag lite and I have to say that while they're both equally bright the larger reflector on this guy does a better job of focusing the light. Also, it's focus is pre-set. I know that the ability to focus is a supposed selling point for the mini-mag but how often do you actually do anything but focus it to a tight spot? This one is already focused on a tight spot, you just turn it on. I think it's a great flashlight for the money. The threads on the tail cap are a little flimsy, it does seem like it would be easy to cross-thread if you weren't paying attention, also I wouldn't take it scuba diving or anything. But how often are you going to remove that tail cap or expect to go scuba diving with a 20 dollar flashlight? Also this price is competetive, this flashlight was six dollars more at my local hardware store.

This is one bright light!
Beyond that, not much to recommend it. A little too dinky for my likes. Uninspired design. Craftsmanship is not what I'd expect for a $35 flashlight! Looks and feels like any number of $10 flashlights that I own. The battery strength indicator is a plastic contraption that is more gimmick than anything else. Adds to the cheap look and feel of the whole thing. One need only look at the beam to see if the batteries are running down -- and one thing is for certain -- 3 AAA batteries are not going to keep a 6 watt light running for very long. Carry spares. I appreciate the fact that the manufacturer designed the light to use cheap alkalines or rechargeables rather than expensive lithiums, otherwise it would quickly become too expensive to operate for your average non-rich person like me. Bottom line: It's a Dorcy -- a perrenial bargain basement incandescent flashlight manufacturer that has wisely decided to take advantage of the l.e.d. phenomenon to try and improve their image and compete with the big boys. They've obviously got a ways to go, but I give them a "B" for effort and an "A" for being opportunistic. If Dorcy plays their cards right, they could very well go from wannabe status to gottahave status in relatively short order.
