Protection Spells: Clear Negative Energy, Banish Unhealthy Influences, and Embrace Your Power (Spells & Magick Series) Hardcover – Illustrated, August 7, 2018

This is a great book to start out with when you are getting into protection magick.As a practicing witch of about 10 years, for a long time I never fully understood the obsession with protection magick. I smudge regularly, sprinkle some salt around every so often, keep a cache of obsidian and black tourmaline around, cast circle when there is any question, and follow protocol when I do things like visit cemeteries. I lock my doors at night and don’t do dumb stuff like walk thru bad neighborhoods alone. I’m a reasonably peaceful person, have no interest in getting into any drama with other witches, and do not engage n00bs who want to become witches so that they can hex the guy who just broke up with them. I also did not engage in any hexing myself, not because I’m a big believer in the Law of Three (I’m not) but simply because nothing I’d encountered rose to that level of necessity. I do believe that sort of thing needs to be a last, rather than first, resort...and I’d just never reached my limit with anyone or anything.But recently, as this country has descended into more and more hatred, cruelty and general unpleasantness at the same time the city in which I live has experienced a large and quite noticeable uptick in crime, I started to take protection magick more seriously; not only with regard to my physical protection, but with regard to my psychic protection as well. It’s exhausting dealing with all of these new worries and a world that feels so much more hostile that it did years ago, and I found myself feeling drained quite frequently.Enter this book. Within the first hour of beginning to read, I had taken some basic steps to ensure that my person, my home, my car, my office, and my pets were under some level of protection. No big elaborate spells with a huge list of ingredients to gather. Didn’t even have to wait for the right moon phase because both waxing and waning were covered. Several spells required no ingredients, others required only items like salt and/or water. Still others could probably be completed with a candle and a couple of items from your spice rack. And still others could be completed with some basic crystals like obsidian and clear quartz, which are inexpensive and plentiful. There was ample flexibility to use the spells given as easy hopping off points for building one’s own spells and indeed some listings were more practices than ‘spells’ anyway.Already, I feel like the relentless negativity is much more outside my bubble, and I have become a much bigger fan of protection magick.Not long ago I read somewhere that some witches keep 60-70 protection magicks going at a time. And while I don’t see the need for that (at least in my life currently) I now have a list of about 9-10 magicks that I can keep in place without excessive effort and time commitment; items that will make my little dot on the planet a more positive space to occupy.

Ordered as a gift, however, they have many of these types of books… might re~order for self. Very interesting.Book came as seen in photos, excellency shape.

I bought this book as a sort of "last resort" for an issue I'm having.While I am a pagan, I am not Wiccan et all, and have never been drawn to spell-crafting, as such.That said, after reading the forward and first two chapters, immediately after receiving "Protection Spells", I have no words to say how impressed I am.The way the author explains the what-fors and basic reasonings (including ethics and energies, and how things work), I am absolutely certain that this is the tool I needed most for my issue.I can't say how impressed I am. The spells are simple (and encourage personalization), and use very few items (besides "the caster's will & energy & intent), which truthfully are probably in every person's cupboard or kitchen.The spell ingredients, lists and explanations are exquisite in their simplicity. And the author has a beautiful "voice" on these pages...no mumbo-jumbo or terminology that can only be understood by long-time practitioners.I can readily feel the power and effectiveness of her style, despite not having used any spells, as yet. But this book is SO profoundly impressive I decided to gift my original to a friend, and bought another to keep. And THEN lol, I ran into a friend who needs it more than both my bff or I...so the original copy will be gifted to *her*, and I purchased a third for myself.My only regret is not being able to contact the seller directly to tell her what a positive effect this amazing little book has had already on three people who need her knowledge and wisdom. It is my go to as a beginner. Clear and concise and offers additional information besides spells.

Looks like my book must've been a return because there are stains on the cover. I'm not gonna return it though. That's not as important as the content.That aside, this is a pretty good book and has lots of protection spells. As others have said, most of them use items that you may already own and the executions are easy as well.I'm not a whole lot interested in performing spells normally, but it's always great to have some for protection. I'm particularly fond of the Simple House Blessing and look forward to performing it. Buy it. You won't regret it.

If you're beginning your journey, in my opinion it should start here. Protecting yourself, and understanding why there is a need, is to me the most important part. This book was easy to read and understand. I'm glad I purchased it, and would recommend to anyone starting on their spiritual journey.

I was so impressed about the quality of this little book. It's a lovely bound hardback with beautiful, delicate pages. The spells within it are accessible, yet comprehensive. This is a fantastic book for beginners and has a lot of knowledge within to create a great foundation. It also has helped me a lot with anxiety, no doubt that is partly the author's intention. This is a shining gem in my growing collection of magical books.

I can open this often and find what I need to protect myself. This book is a guide that help anyone, I believe. As a beginner I found it easy to use. It inspired me to pursue my spiritual work and I loved to find this and more books written by Arin Murphy-Hiscock. For some reason protection was the first big step in my path and I encourage anyone to use it paying attention in all that the she teachs you. I love her ethics and suggestions for spells, rituals, and protective objects. It inspired me to be more mindful and it is amazing to see that all works as long as you follow the steps. This book changed my perspective, allowing myself to think of what was there for me before. I am glad that the Universe allowed myself to come across this book.
