I enjoy having coffee on hand all day long, but I hate the low quality of our office coffee pool and I hate spending $200+ per month at our local coffee chain. My solution was to buy a pair of high-end vacuum-insulated mugs and use them to bring in home-brewed coffee. Since this amounts to about 4-5 mugs of coffee every day, I wanted to dial down the caffeine so I can actually sleep at night. The low acidity of this particular blend is a bonus for all-day drinking. For reference, I'm using a SCA-certified home automatic drip coffeemaker. I'm deliberately omitting the brand in accordance with Amazon's review guidelines. The taste is a little more mellow than what I was initially expecting from a French roast. It's not weak, but it tastes like this may be slightly cut with a lighter roast. The end result is a very smooth, very drinkable cup, especially if you're drinking it hot all day long. If you enjoy the darker flavors of a typical French roast but wish you could dial it down just a notch, you might really enjoy the flavor profile here. Unlike many other roasters, both their whole beans and pre-ground bags are consistent. We go through about 1.5 pounds a week, so the only time I notice a difference is towards the end of the bag, when the grounds have been repeatedly exposed to air through opening / reclosing the bag. If you don't intend on using all these up within a week, and you have a decent grinder at home, opt for the whole beans. Otherwise, the grounds from this particular roaster are a safe bet. With a balanced flavor profile that leans towards the dark side, this has become our go-to daily brew.

Fantastic coffee! Tastes great and I definitely benefit from the reduced acidity. Very unhappy that the French Roast is, for some reason, unavailable for some time now - it's the best.

BOOOO I wanted to like it because it's low acid, but it tastes BURNT. EW! Tried to return, and it says UNABLE TO RETURN THIS ITEM. So I'm stuck. VERY MAD UPDATE..I tried the RETURN a week later and they did process a refund.

I love the taste of this coffee. It doesn’t taste weak or off like many other low acid coffees seem to. It’s difficult to find low acid half caff, and I am pleased to have found this one. My sensitive stomach can handle coffee again!

I buy this coffee once a month. This bag tasted like it was ground in a machine that had not been cleaned of the previously ground hazelnut flavored coffee. I absolutely hate the taste of flavored coffee. I'm putting a pinch of baking soda in it to make it drinkable but that also affects the flavor of the coffee. Usually it's great!

This coffee is an absolutely must for anyone who experience gastric or digestion issues. I have ulcers and would not be able to drink coffee at all if it wasn't for this low acid version. You cannot tell any difference from regular coffee. The flavor is superb. I highly recommend this coffee.

I don't write 1-star reviews much, but this coffee was terribly disappointing. We're not even picky coffee drinkers, but this stuff smells and tastes like chemicals whether it's ground or freshly brewed. I even tried salvaging a fresh pot by pouring it into my creamy iced smoothie and, when I opened the blender, it smelled like chemical fart... I sh!t you not! Furthermore, we could not find anywhere online explaining how they decaffeinate their coffee and their support email declined to answer our question about this, so I suspect they use formaldehyde processing, which might explain at least some of the chemical smell and taste. But even other decaf coffees using formaldehyde still don't taste this undrinkable, so something else is clearly going on in their coffee processing. We had been super-excited to try this low-acid version, but it's not even drinkable enough to give it 2 stars. I suggest you save your money for a luxury food (like coffee) that's at least enjoyable.
