rolls A- B Box (RPQ160B)

Don't know why it is listed a an " a-b box", although I think Rolls makes those also . This unit is a parametric equalizer . Hard to beat for the money . I am running a pair of these in a home studio . Gets the job done on a budget . I am using other Rolls products also , all favorable .

I was pleasantly surprised by this equalizer. I hoped that I would use it as part of a channel strip, to dial in tones during re-amping, and even as a mastering EQ. I was worried that it would not be a quality product or that it would color tone. The ROLLS RPQ160b has not disappointed. It is a well built EQ and it does it's job very nicely. I honestly wish that I had bought two and I would use them as a stereo pair. It's a great little unit.

I bought two of these from Recording Store to use them in my home hi-fi system. The product arrived in a timely manner and was well packaged. Installation was simple, but I noticed somethings immediately:- The RCA jacks on the pack panel are undersized, resulting in loose connections unless the connectors on your cables are tighter-fitting than average- The RCA jacks are semi-recessed, meaning most RCA cables could not fully engage the connectors- The AC power adapter is of questionable quality and may be responsible for a slight background buzz/humSonically, while not the most transparent, it works. I tried all the features and they seemed to work as advertised.But here is the single reason why I ended up returning the product. The knobs are poorly aligned to the marking on the panel. And there was significant variability between the two units I got. This meant that when I set a particular knob to 3 o'clock position on both units, I was not guaranteed to get the same (or even close to same) effect. As a result, I could not achieve a properly balanced sound between the two channels.I praise Rolls for making a useful product very affordable, but based on my experience, the result is not a good value overall.

It does what it says on the tin, it fitted into my console without a problem. I had to change the plug to fit the Uk electric socket. Overall I am happy with the product and it turned up early than expected.
