A Good Art-Teaching Resource
I based an art unit for my Advanced Art high school students around this book and I was very impressed with my students' results! They first practiced the various stroke techniques that Ms. Kullberg shows, learned pertinent vocabulary, practiced layering, color matching (and mixing) and then simply took off. I highly recommend this book (as well as the other one by Ms. Kullberg) to art teachers who are looking for new and exciting techniques to share with their older students!

Great Book by a Great Artist
Ann Kullberg is one of my favorite artists for Colored Pencil work. Her workshops are fantastic, and I was fortunate enough to take 2 of them. I learned so much, both from the book and her workshops!

Good News for "content" lovers NOT book collectors!
I subscribe to Ann's newsletter, and have purchased just about all her informational material she offers, and the good news is, Ms. Kullbert has plans to self-publish this title later this year or in 2009. That means we won't have to pay the outrageous prices this book is being offered at. We are artists, and "starving" maybe not, however, I prefer to purchase art materials with my extra bucks. Also, she offers a companion CD to this book with video clips on technique and printable line drawings from which to practice. Third, my fellow artists, she is just about finished her 3rd book...so watch for it!!!

Wonderful book
I love this book. Anne Kuhlberg is a wonderful artist. I haven't had the time to work through any of the examples she has laid out in this book but I am looking forward to doing so. Wonderful artist, wonderful book.

"Soft Realism" is a winner
This is a beautiful book with large colourful photos and great step by step instructions. It covers a wide range of subjects including the proper materials and techniques to use, as well as a wide variety of subject matters. It shows you how to draw and colour subjects such as a wicker basket, furniture, window frames, shiny surfaces, a waterfall, a garden in bloom, individual flowers and plants, rocks, landscapes and more. It's all here, for the artist who likes to "paint" a little bit of everything. It is such an attractive piece, I use it as a coffee table book. Ann Kullberg is a genius with colour pencils. With this book she shares her unique ability to produce the charming subtleties that transform a drawing into a true masterpiece. I have since purchased several of her books and would not hesitate to buy more. A truly great buy!

Great book
I really like a lot of her techniques. They are easy to follow and very basic. Her books are good starting books. I have found others to show more techniques too that are great. It's just good to have a variety, since many artists have varying approaches. I basically will go with colored pencil artists whose work is excellent. I will not buy a book by an artist who does crappy art work, even if the techniques are great according to other readers. To me if the techniques are great, so would be the artwork.

Great Artistry and Instruction
Ann Kullberg is an excellent artist and capable teacher. I would recommend this book. But, I would further recommend going to her website and availing yourself of her tools and lessons.
