The Goodies: The Complete BBC Collection [DVD]

Contains all the scenes that were originally cut out in Australia!
The box set is fairly tightly packaged and it should be opened carefully as the DVDs sometimes become dislodged in transit. Episode info is on the slick which cannot be read until all the discs are removed. I removed and scanned/printed the slick for easier reference, though you can just as easily reverse it so the info can be seen on the outside.Picture quality is as good as can be expected given the age of the source media. Audio quality is crisp and clear. For Australian fans, the big bonus is seeing the original shows with all the cut scenes reinstated.

Infinite stars?!
Finally!! After decades of waiting, the ENTIRE series on DVD! If you don't know The Goodies, think of Monty Python as a sit-com......... Just one of the funniest, most zany series of all time. Some eps are in black and white-- but still perfectly watchable. This series HAS to be better known, and now it can! THANK YOU to whoever got this done!

About Time!
As an Australian, now living in the US, I was excited to find out The Complete BBC Goodies was finally available! If you haven’t seen The Goodies, you have no idea what you have been missing. And it is still great to watch!Sadly, some episodes are B&W as it appears BBC lost some original color copies. But I highly recommend you buy and watch this asap!

HILARIOUSLY INVENTIVE AND COLOURFUL CHARMING SLAPSTICK
Here's the ENTIRE collection of “The Goodies” comedy episodes that were made with the BBC in the 1970s, a time in which having just plain, good fun was still a popular pastime.Starring the unforgettable fun trio of freaky science nerd Graeme Garden, boyish, Britain-loving Tim Brooke-Taylor and impish pop fan Bill Oddie, they not only made one of the most fun and warmest comedy teams around but were also tremendously popular at the time, especially with families and kids.Their sheer imagination and ability to invent slapstick stories that often finished with the most hilarious fast motion action chases where everything seemed to get destroyed in good old Keystone Cops fashion was seemingly boundless. Yes, there were a few dud episodes that got fewer laughs than usual but most of the time one was just wowed along as if in a surrealist dream, while a good quarter of the episodes, such as “The Goodies and the Beanstalk”, “Kitten Kong” and “Saturday Night Grease” were absolute masterpieces. If you're looking for a constant supply of great t.v. fun to wind down after a hard day or to entertain the kids with then you simply have to get this !

The BBC Goodies first collection...
This original BBC series ran from November 1970 to February 1980 on BBC 2. It combined surreal sketches and situation comedy. Also contained 67 half-hour episodes, and two forty-five-minute Christmas specials. Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie created this series. The set features all the classic BBC episodes, apart from the original tv "Kitten Kong" episode i believe. It is said to have been wipe by the BBC (Unless anyone knows any better). An expanded episode called "Kitten Kong: Montreux '72 Edition". was especially made. This was for the 1972 Montreux festival and is said to have only minor differences with its 1971 prototype (which i believe is used). The one thing that I would have liked as a special feature would have been "Return of the Goodies". After nearly 25 years, this brought back the trio for the one off special. They relive some of their finest moments which featured some new material. The Complete LWT Series has been released on DVD as a two disc set. Many extra features are on the second disc, which make this series worth having even more. It is a shame that this could not be included in the set. Nice that you can still purchase the ITV series as this nearly completes the set. With the passing of Tim Brooke-Taylor 12 April 2020, here are other series he was in...Hello CheekyAt Last The 1948 ShowMe and My GirlBananaman [Voiced by Graeme Garden, Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Jill Shilling]You Must Be The HusbandThe Rough With The SmoothBroaden Your MindAlso Radio Shows to hear...I'm Sorry, I'll Read That AgainHello Cheeky'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue

COMEDY GOLD YOU HAD TO BE THERE FOR
As a child I loved this programme. I can only remember it being screened on commercial TV once as an adult and consequently, content was lost to commercials, so it spoiled the experience. This DVD box set is only recently released so it is brand new, contains 12 discs and each episode can be accessed directly from the main menu of each disc. Access by chapter is not offered. The humour on this disc is not for everyone since political correctness is at such plague proportions these days. However, if you still know how to laugh and were born at least 4 decades ago, well it that were the case you should already know who these guys are and how incredibly funny and talented they are.All BBC episodes are on this set, there is a separate DVD release for the later episodes made with another network. At this point I must stress that I have not watched all the discs. I am taking my time to enjoy this set and not rush to the end. So far I have come across two black and white episodes early on in the collection and the production company has placed a note inside the cover of the set asking if anybody could possibly supply copies of the Playgirl Club and Commonwealth Games episodes in colour. If you do want to buy this collection, do not let small children watch it. There is female nudity present. Sometimes it is fleeting, and sometimes more prolonged. Sometimes it feels like everything produced in the 1970's was influenced by Benny Hill, but I did notice that of all the people that can be heard laughing in the studio audience, there is a very healthy female representation of raucous laughter, so make of that what you will. It does appear to be made by men for the enjoyment of a male audience, but that doesn't mean there isn't a whole treasure trove of priceless comedy gems to be found here.So if you are unfamiliar with this series, maybe check it out online and see if you like it - lest you recoil in horror from an off-colour remark. If you already know this series and love it, I hope you buy it and appreciate the sheer magnitude of laughs on offer. My favourites are the Saturday Night Grease, Scoutrageous and Bunfight at the OK Tearooms episodes. Many thanks to Baraka Trading and Amazon for offering this product.
