This provides the same functionality but I suspect the solid pins actually are stronger retainers than the formed spring metal (as shown in the listing). On the other hand, I suppose that it might be possible for the stubs to get snapped off the spring and lost under certain extreme conditions. But, I suspect that such extreme conditions would mash and shear the formed pins even more readily. In any case, the spring pins that I received seem to be of good quality and are in pristine condition.
