New Active Birth

If you want a natural birth...
This book was quite helpful in preparing me for my natural birth despite needing Pitocin I was still able to give birth without an epidural the books yoga positions for hip opening or helpful and keeping in mind the ideas for positions for pushing were also quite helpful I would recommend this book in addition to anything by Ina May gaskin if you are trying for a natural (non epidural) birth. Let's be clear about it. Natural birth is painful, but it is incredibly empowering. I've done it twice now, and both times I was glad. I needed help from the experts though because it would be easy to forget what you really want in the intensity of labor pains during transition. Still, it can be done and it's worth a shot. I believe it's healthier and incredibly powerful to know that you are capable of facing undiluted birth. This book will help prepare your brain and your body.

great if you were actually successful having a natural childbirth which was tested show is half of the female population
I think this book is fantastic if you actually have a positive experience using these techniques I ended up having C-sections for both of my births and these type of alternative books that of course every woman wants to have a natural childbirth never have any sections or areas which significantly discuss the feeling of disappointment if you were not able to successfully have and have sold childbirth I feel this Miss is a huge part of the population as out of 10 friends almost half of us have had to have C-sections against what we of course he actually wanted these types of books should be written in such a fashion so that those of us who are not able to do it can welcome traditional modern medicine that in the past we would have died trying to give childbirth but now we should embrace the traditional medicine that can Keep Us Alive and also enable us to give birth to healthy children

SO Helpful
I LOVE this book. I have always been hesitant to have children because of my fear of the pain from giving birth. This book is very detailed and prepares you for what is to come. Through reading this book, I knew what to expect of my body and no longer feared having a natural birth. When the time came, I knew that what I was going through was normal and my sense of calm and the coping techniques I learned in this book helped me to manage my pain very well. I recommend New Active Birth to any expectant mother!

My 'Birthing Bible'
This is a book that every expectant woman needs to keep in her library. That has been my intention since the mid-eighties, when my birthing journeys began. My 'Active Birth' has been handed around enough times I have lost track of its whereabouts. So pleased it continues to be updated and published today, I now give it as a gift once 'an announcement' has been made and have received notes and calls of sincere thanks from those women and men whom it has been gifted to, following the birth of their child.A compulsory read for both mother and father, 'Active Birth' truely prepares you for your birthing experience like no other.

Very informative and empowering!
I really liked the information. Very helpful. Didn’t find the yoga section as useful but that’s just my opinion. definitely recommend for those seeking info on natural (medical free) births!

Great Information
My chiropractor was the one to recommend this to me when I told him I'm currently pregnant. The information contained in it is very detailed, scientifically accurate. Their explanation of how other cultures have used different methods and positions to give birth safely is fascinating and really does make sense. I love the exercises, they are easy to understand, I've felt a definite improvement in flexibility and less lower back pain.

the MOST helpful book for those desiring natural birth
This book was by far the BEST book and approach to having an aware, powerful, confident birth experience. It didn't try to teach me tricks (mostly useless) to avoid the contractions and pain, but instead taught WHY we have contractions, that they are HEALTHY and GOOD, and how to work with them. Embrace them! Your are bringing forth new life. What an opportunity to participate in a miracle. Don't miss it! Read this book!

A must read before giving birth
An excellent, informative book which is easy to follow. Explains clearly the mechanics of child birth, and why being active and working with your body and gravity is less painful and more productive than labouring hospital-style on your back in bed. The section on yoga you can either take or leave, as the rest of the book focuses on aspects of pregnancy and birth itself. Very glad I've read this as I feel more prepared for natural child birth.

Great book for natural birth
This is a key book for anyone wanting to understand Active Birth and how to use natural techniques to have a positive experience. Some of the pictures are dated now but looking past that it's a great book.
