Edit/Update: After reading the intitial review I left (still included below) the seller personally reached out to me to resolve the issue. They replaced the reel at no cost to me. The replacement does not exhibit any of the previous drag problems and is functioning quite well. My new rating is 5 stars based on the company's customer service and overall value for the dollar. Are there nicer reels than this? Absolutely. Are you going to find a better one in this price range? Not likely. I'd love to be able to rate this higher. I bought the 1000 model. It's a beautiful looking reel. It's larger than you would expect- it's closer to a 2000 in Shimano sizing. The big problem is the drag. When I first got it the drag was completely locked up. I loosened it until the spool was flopping around and still couldn't pull any line. I eventually broke it loose by turning the spool by hand. After getting the drag unseized, I found out that it is extremely erratic, meaning if you loosen it 3 clicks then tighten it 3 clicks you somehow don't get back to the same drag setting. Tonight I had the drag set where I wanted it, but had to tighten it 5 clicks to pull free of a snag. After I freed my line I loosened it 5 clicks and the drag was nowhere near where it was set previously. I've had to get in the habit of rechecking the drag every few casts.

Update on my orders. I got 3 of them same brand different. Size. This is getting rusty after using it twice. It’s hard to retract/spinning so may not be a good option. Also the spinning handle comes off while using it, is just like a cap. I guess it needs to be glued to avoid that while fishing so it stays in and you won’t lose it. It may be beautiful piece, the question is. Does it work? And if it does, can it last? You be the judge. The 6000 damaged after 2 weeks, now 40 days after I can’t use the 4000. You can cast but you can’t crank anymore. Bearings got rusty so bad that can’t retract/spin anymore

I was skeptical at first ordering a fishing reel on line. Usually I will go to Walmart, Get a mid range reel and if I dont like it I can return it in 30 days. This reel advertised with 12 ball bearings, 1 roller bearing and it was beautiful. So for the price I could,nt go wrong. I bought it for Saltwater surf fishing and its absolutely perfect. I wont be going to Destin until next week and I cant wait to use it. Its smooth as silk , solidly built and I paired it with a 9 foot bass pro shops surf rod. I ordered the 5000 which is perfect for Bluefish, Drums, Sea trout and pier fishing. I will post pictures in 2 weeks but believe me, This is the best reel you will ever buy for the price....
