Love this!
Being disabled, and not having much money or the ability to stand and cook, I find this a great table top hob to have. The induction pans are a little on the heavy side but this has been a game changer for me. Its cut down on the cooking time and energy used (saves me a fair amount of money). I have 2 of these on my kitchen counter, along with 2 different air ovens and haven't had a proper cooker/oven for around 5+ yrs now. My energy consumption with all of the above mentioned is very low, which is ideal for someone like me on a budget.Easy to use, this has different settings on it from boil to basic steady heat settings so there's plenty ways to cook different foods.I just wish they could make the induction pans a little lighter to handle but that's no reflection on this hob.Easy to clean. Only downside for me is that it is a glass hob, so if you drop something on it, it could crack it (happened to me once so this was a replacement for that one). But if looked after, these do last a long time. Will definitely purchase again as and when I need another one/replacement for the ones I have as I've had other brands but have found this one to be the best and most reliable.

Seems to be a good buy
I purchased the slimline version of this hob and so far so good. I have only used the Slow tab and I find it does everything I need, from frying eggs to boiling water. I do feel it runs hot in as much everything seems to cook very quickly and I think if I used the Fry tab it would burn the food. Not tried it because who can afford to burn food nowadays? It's very easy to clean because its all one level and it's all ceramic. I find it to be very quiet, and have to listen hard before I switch it off at the plug. Is it worth the hefty price tag, we will see how long it lasts but Tefal has a good reputation in our house. Overall, I would say its a good bit of kit.

Good value
The device is extremely good at accomplishing its basic function, which is to heat pans of food quickly and without too much waste of heat to the surroundings, i.e. efficiently and hence cheaply. As claimed, it works perfectly well with pans down to 12cm and up to 24cm. I wondered whether it might baulk at my cast iron casserole, much cheaper than a le Creuset and hence with an enamelled slightly uneven base, however it coped perfectly.Unlike some reviewers, I did not seriously expect the fancy functions claiming to maintain given temperatures in the pan to work well, if at all, so I was not disappointed. A moment of thought shows that no such function can be reliable unless it is controlled by an temperature probe which is actually in the food, water or oil. Presumably the thermometer is under the glass in the centre of the cooking area, thus the best it can do is estimate the temperature of the centre of the base of the pan, which will be strongly affected by such matters as the size of the pan; its food content; and the precise construction of the base and will certainly be subject to some delay in response to temperature changes as the heat passes through the glass. Thus it is hardly surprising that the amount of water, milk, oil or whatever has to be dialled into the cooker for the automatic programmes to have any chance of working and that even then they are somewhat hit and miss. Having said that, I have obtained satisfactory results browning onions in a 28cm pan at Stir Fry setting F1. Stewing, however, is quite unsatisfactory, holding my 18cm pan at only 75C. On boil setting the cooker does not turn off even after the water has been boiling for several minutes in the 18cm pan. I have not dared to try the milk or deep fry settings. The upshot is as I say that the fancy functions are mostly not worth bothering with.Other reviewers have mentioned the lack of control at low heat settings. Here I must agree. It is silly to have such fine control at all of 1500W, 1700W, 1900W and 2100W at high settings, when the low settings are just 450W, 600W and 850W. The lowest of these is not low enough for most simmering jobs and the gradations are insufficient. I would have hoped for settings available from maybe 250W through to 650W in steps of 50W then 100W.From limited experience I cannot be sure of chapter and verse here, but my distinct impression is that even when not using the timer the cooker still turns itself off after 2 hours. It certainly seems to do that on the stew setting, making that even less useful for slow cooking. My own need and expectation was for a powerful hob which would heat up the pan rapidly and efficiently and boil the carrots for 10 minutes. This inexpensive hotplate does that very well indeed. So I just knock off 1 star, not for the silly programmes but for the lack of control at low settings.

Brilliant Every Day Hob
Brilliant Every Day Induction Hob which I had to use as my gas hob packed up just before Christmas. Heats very quickly, very easy to use and clean and looks absolutely fantastic. I've used it to boil, fry, poach etc and it works very well. Easy to pack away into a cupboard when not in use. Be very careful not to allow the pan to touch any other part of the hob other than the circle it's meant to sit on, i.e. when one lifts the pan to spoon melted butter over steak, as this will damage the hob as the side of the pan is hot and will burn the hob. This happened to me and being an Amazon Prime customer served me very well, as I was sent a replacement hob in less than 18 hours. Also it's best to heat up slowly as the hob is so powerful that it may damage cheaper induction pans. I love my induction hob. I think it's the best on the market and would definitely recommend it. I also believe it uses less electricity and so is better for the environment and cheaper on bills. Don't hesitate to buy this, it will serve you well.

much better than other inductions that are portable. will be buying more.
I had a problem that the first one was lost in delivery, this was resolved. :)The product is great. I've used this style of portable induction hob before from a different brand the tefal one is far superior. One word of warning don't use the stirfry mode on maxium it bowed my pan!I will be buying more of these for a holiday cabin.

Temperature control is erratic and useless
This hob just doesn’t work. Boiling pasta turns into a mess on any setting! Too hot and it overflows, too low and it barely heats. As reported by another user, it has 7 levels of heat, but on a level 3 it is dangerously and nonsensically hot, spitting water everywhere, boiling over wildly! Drop it to level 2, and the heat cuts in and out so much the water barely simmers. The temperature control is erratic and useless. Either it burns everything or does nothing at all. Avoid it!
