Good protection....wrong sizing
I have a 7.5 sized head, typically a size "LARGE". I first bought the Bern Unlimited Allston helmet labeled "LARGE-X-LARGE". I figured it would fit me fine. NOT! So I gave this helmet to my son which fit him OK, his head is a size medium. He likes it somewhat, but the visor has been a problem for mountain biking. You have to flip the visor up to see good, and what good is that? It doesn't let you shield the sun because you've flipped it up. If you ride a traditional bike and sit upright, this visor may be OK, but not for mountain or road bikes where you lean over and look up.So then bought the next size larger with plastic visor (Unlimited Morrison Helmet), which was labeled XX-LARGE-XXX-LARGE. When I got the helmet it fit pretty good, but still snug when opened up on the adjustment band all the way. After a dozen rides the helmet works OK, but it's not that comfortable when your body upper torso leaned over while riding, such as road bikes and most mountain bikes. The headband adjustment knob in the back is rather big. When leaned over and looking up at the trail this big knob pinches the back of the neck. Maybe pinch isn't the right word, maybe I should say it binds the back of the neck. I've grown use to it but it's certainly not optimal. I'm not fat in the neck either, if that's what you're thinking. I have a pretty normal build. Although the price of this helmet is somewhat good for a "high end" helmet, it's not functionally optimal, it's just OK. Although the Unlimited Allston helmet isn't very good due to the visor and sizing issues, Their Unlimited Morrison helmet with plastic visor on top is better (except for the sizing and binding problems) because the plastic visor is functional. The overall protection coverage of both models is a winner. If you ride a bike and sit upright, this adjustment knob problem should NOT be an issue. It's only an issue if you're head is looking up. Make sure you buy 2 sizes larger than you are. This company is way off base on their sizing of helmets.

Not to shabby
First off, go to the Bern website and measure your coconut. That will remove any doubt for what size you need. Second, watch the price. I've seen the helmet I needed vary by almost fifty bucks. Use camelcamelcamel to help with price watch. The helmet fits around my head pretty good. The only problem is it fits me low. By that I mean it sits just at the eyebrow. Feels weird and when the visor is down I have to really stretch to see ahead. Sunglasses are a must. I am cutting a leather liner to raise the helmet 2-3 mil. The chinstrap is easy to adjust and fits well. It's lightweight but feels solid. Vented well enough for these Phoenix summer rides. It sits low on the back of the neck also which is made a little worse when I have to stretch to look up. It was worth the sixty bucks but like I said, watch that price.

Great helmet.
Fantastic.I love this helmet, it looks great, it's super light, it's comfortable, it vents well, and most of all it fits!I have a 24 inch head (61 centimeters); yup, I've got a big noggin, and up until now I couldn't ever find a cycling helmet that fit me well. My previous helmet was an XL SixSixOne, and though it was their largest size it felt as though the helmet rested on top of my head, as opposed to over it. It wasn't very comfortable and I always felt as though I looked like a dork while wearing it.I decided to get the Allston after reading through some reviews online, and after consulting the size chart on Bern's website, went for the XXLarge/3X size. It fits perfectly, and is honestly extremely comfortable to wear. Not only that, but I've received quite a few compliments on the Allston, people really seem to like the overall look, especially how low the profile is, and the flip-down visor gets a lot of attention too.So yeah, I totally recommend the Allston - as far as I'm concerned there's no better way to protect your thinking meat while on your bike.

Love bern helmets
These helmets are great. I have this helmet and the bern brentwood. I find that most cycling helmets have a foamy liner that is fine but less than plush. These helmets have a nice plush microfiber liner that feels nice on your head. I would equate this feeling to more of a motorcycle or scooter helmet. If just feels nice againts the skin. I found the fit and air flow pretty good as well. I think there are probably lighter and cooler helmets out there but I find the flashier the bicycle or equipment, the less I like it.I did have an issue with the final clear coat bubbling on this helmet. I sent it back and they gave me a prompt replacement. The brentwood and the replacement both show inconsistencies in the finish, which are only noticeable when really looking them over. This does not bother me much but I could see it being a problem for others. Comfort wise I think these are tough to beat and well worth the coin

Like every other reviewer said
Like every other reviewer said, the sizing is way messed up. They run really small. I was going to order a large / x-large, but all the reviews encouraged me to get a larger size. I ended up buying the XXX-large, expecting it was going to be big on me, but it barely fits. The little dial on the back is at the loosest setting and it's just right.Sizing issues aside, it's a fine helmet. I feel incredibly head-protected. My wife says I look like a ninja turtle, and she's right. If you want a helmet with messed-up sizing that makes you look like a ninja turtle, this helmet is for you.

Cool but a bit small(ish)
Cool helmet! Use it for cycling every day.To begin with it felt a bit too tight (even though it's L/XL). Other helmets I've owned were L, so I was a bit surprised to find it almost too small.

Overall good helmet with NY messenger styling.
Air flow through the helmet is good. Keeps me cooler than my previous helmet. It looks a little bulky (more than I thought it would), and the peak is like a jockey hat, but it's not as ugly as some helmets and is pretty comfortable too. My head size is 58cm, so I went for the large. With the liner it fits well. It would be too big without the liner but you can get different liners (summer, summer with peak, winter and audio).Worth the money I think.
