Need to Bend Over
This works very well. The only issue that I have is that I truly need to get down on my hands and knees to use this. As compared to a tool with a longer handle, I would be able to stand straight to use this.

Had To Purchase Twice, 1 of My Favorite Tools
I'm reviewing the Hand-held Hula Hoe 500W. I REALLY like this tool for weeding and spreading dyed mulch. I've in fact purchased 2 of these already. Unfortunately I lost one on a job site, which I had to reorder one the same day. For the price, $12. shipped at the time, I can't beat the cost anywhere. In fact, I tried searching for this tool in my local garden stores to no avail. The only thing I suggest is to modify it slightly. I sharpened the edges as shown in my photos, before using. I'm happy with the construction of the tool. The metal feels and sharpens like a steel, the handle would be the weak point in this case. Although it wouldn't be too hard to come up with a replacement handle, IMO. I've been coating the handle with Boiled Linseed Oil. I hope this will help prolong the handles life, I usually do this with all my bare wood tools... but this is not 100% bare wood. It seems to have a light coat of finish from assembly.I've used this tool for weeding clay soils, soft soils (like those with lots of leaf coverage, "humus"), also chopping away at Ivy (as long as it's sharp). The tool cuts both pushing and pulling, especially after sharpening. This makes for weeding under brush and bushes easier. Being a hand-held tool, I feel I have more control, compared to the full length hoe. The final thing I'm thrilled about is the tool is made in the USA!!I bought this from the seller "Amazon LLC", which I feel is important to list this info. I've come across sellers with variances in their items, including knockoffs, even if listed as same brand.***UPDATE***5-20-20This 2nd hoe has lasted years now. It's held up well, I just sharpen the edges from time to time. I like this hoe since I rather be close to the ground when I'm working the soil in most areas I'm tending to. To easy to hurt a good plant over a weed when they're small, so staying near the ground to better identify, is what I prefer.Suprisingly, the handle has also held up well, no issues with splintering or drying out becoming brittle either. I'll have to post a photo to accompany the update. Since the second purchase, I burned my name into the handle, and it still looks great. I hope this helps. Thanks.

I have amended my review
I received this tool with one of the screws stripped that holds the cutting band in place. It would fall apart if one did not have a proper-sized screw to repair it. I don't know that others have extra screws laying around. Is this American made? If it is, we should be embarrassed.I also found the handle to be a bit longer than it needed to be for my comfort.Should I send it back? Seriously thinking about it.I am considering a higher quality tool made by Wolf Garten. Three times as much, but made to last forever.* I have used this tool a while longer and I want to update my star rating. As it turns out the more I use this thing the more I like it. This is for light-weight scraping and tilling an existing flower bed while you have your knees on a pad. It is a maintenance tool, not for stripping out established grass roots. The handle length is good. Works very well.

was much smaller then I thought for the price.
when i searched for "this" tool, i searched for "Hula ho Sod Cutter" and the price on this one was comparable to a full sized 5' hula ho. i assumed the 14" was the width of the cutting hoop, but it is actually the length of the entire tool. this might work for weeding a small garden on your hands and knees, but by no means would it work for Sod Cutting or weeding large areas. having said that, it is an acceptable quality for the description, however the description could have been more accurate and a couple of additional pictures would have certainly been handy, such as it laying next to a ruler or in someone's hand. anything but the single white background photo provided.

Perfect birthday present from the wife
I’m the gardener in the family and I spend a lot of time keeping pesky weeds at bay in my gardens. My wife gave me this for my birthday. I know that doesn’t seem like the best gift of all time but she was tired of me complaining about my old ho. I hadn’t even really realize I’ve been doing this but the wife is pretty astute. In reality my old ho was getting pretty worn and rusty. It was also bulky and really didn’t have the maneuverability that this hula ho has. I like that it’s short and nimble, so I can easily get between the bushes and other foliage. This ho scrapes out all those unwanted stubble weeds with ease. This is now my goto ho for when I need to do a quick but thorough job to keep things tidy. If you’ve been doing everything by hand, you need this ho. It makes quick work out of a seemingly endless battle with weeds. Highly recommended!

Great tool for weeding
I bought this tool because I thought I lost my other one, which I’d had for 15 years and wanted to replace it right away. My new one arrived and I found my old one. The quality of this new one is just as good as my original one and now I have two. It might take a bit for first time users to figure out how to use it but once you do, you should be pleased.

Favorite garden tool
This is a great hand tool. I bought a second one in case I misplace the original. I use it all the time. It’s sturdy and does a super job. I’ve given them as gifts to friends who garden.

Nice little hoe, but not very sharp.
I got this to help with weeding in and around our raised vegetable beds. Not my best purchase ever though. It arrived with a thick black paint-like coating, which eliminated whatever sharpness may have been present on the cutters. So, I sharpened them (relatively easy, as two screws can be removed for disassembly) as best I could, and they kind of work now. But mostly it still drags the weeds from the soil rather than cutting them in-situ.The size is good, and the angle of operation (forward and back) is easy on the wrists. But they just don't cut the weed as well as hoped, even after sharpening to about equivalent to a snap-blade knife. Dunno why not.
