Hawk Microphone Replacement Kit

Using for law enforcement and works great. Thick wiring for durability. The wires are good length to be ran through a vest and not be to clustered and out of the way. Using these for about 2 years now and only one issue was microphone was slight muffled in the rainy days, partners couldn’t always make out what was being said. Works great though 10/10 on my apx4000

I have been using the Ear Phone Connection Hawk Lapel Microphone for at least 10 years. I needed to replace my old one as the wires were becoming exposed and the audio tube was deteriorating. The new kit was delivered quickly and the quick release works perfectly. However, as mentioned in several other reviews, the new microphone clip is way too large (the new microphone is larger also, unfortunately). As seen in the picture the microphone now sits over a half inch out from my vest. The clip that mounts to the earpiece section is similarly too large. I connect that clip to the clothing tag inside my uniform shirt and with the new clip it is large enough to push the piece into my neck. As for the "unreliability" other reviewers have mentioned, I have never had a reliability issue! My only issue is with the new overly large clips.

Great product. Been using this system for several years as a police officer outside on patrol. I'm on my second replacement cord now, which is reasonable for the amount of wear and tear I put it through. However, I actually preferred the old plastic clip on the mic. The plastic clip tucked behind the mic out of view better when attached to my outer vest. It also sat flatter against my vest, and didn't stick out as far. It never broke, even when pulled on during a tussle. I'm all for a "better quality" metal clip, but I just wish the new metal clip was designed better. As far as overall reliability and quality, I've had no problems in the past, and don't expect any problems with my new replacement cord.

I was originally using this in a court setting then changed jobs and use it outside where street noise can be overpowering. I seemed to have better reception with the antenna attached directly to my XTS5000 and I seem to never miss what is transmitted because of the listen quality. The earpieces that come with it are ones that allow you to hear people talk in both ears because of the open design and you still hear the radio traffic loud and clear! This particular item is ONLY the wire not the adapter kit. If you have the 6pin adapter and your wire broke then this is a great replacement option. The security of not having a mic to grab onto by a perp during a scuffle, the listen and talk quality, and the added protection of everyone not hearing the traffic around you makes this a must have piece of equipment!

Bought this 7 months ago for the job. I wear an external vest carrier so I run it under to protect the cord. It has worked flawlessly. Clip the mic to the front of your lapel, run the earpiece line under your shift lapel and clip to the back of your lapel. Pop the earpiece in and you are in business. With these expect to replace the earpiece and/or clear line about twice a year. At some point you can tell the volume going down. That is wear/tear on the earpiece. The quick release adapter has to be bought separately or add it at point of sale. I leave it on whether I am using the earpiece or not.

I love the product and the fact its not very expensive, however I have had to replace them a few times because the clip eventually breaks. I have had to glue the clip for the mic to keep it working. This is only after using the unit for several months. As I speak on this I am gluing another one after using it since May of 2020.

This replacement part is perfect ! Previously tried earpiece/mic combos frayed at the connector location , had complaints from dispatch about poor audio on my part, picked up wind and environmental noises, and didn't hold up long at all. Where as the other brands tried lasted barely 2 months, both times I've purchased these lasted almost a year each. That's a year on patrol to include running, fighting, weather and normal wear and tear. 4 stars though as it does not last a full year .

I have been using an earpiece for 19 years now and this is my least favorite. It is easy to use but the sound quality is not as good as I had hoped and the mic and mic clip are so big that I can’t conceal it at all. The mic clip is bulky and awkward and I haven’t been able to find a comfortable position for it without it sticking way out of my shirt. The sound quality is not as good as I’m used to either.
