Q: What is the size of this bottle, how much puree of watermelon does one recieve for 40 dollars ?

It's a little over 4 cups. And it is watermelon puree, but it appears to have more water and sugar. I cannot say how much watermelon puree is in there. I can't find that information anywhere

I am afraid I cannot help you. I haven't purchased in awhile and don't remember how many grams of sugar. I would imagine it might be on the high side since when it is in my refrigerator too long, it turns into a thick syrup!

Q: Can this be used in place of purée?

It would depend on the recipe and application. If just for flavoring, I would say probably you could use, but much less. If for providing volume/thickening or moisture, I would say it probably would not work.

Q: What amount would you use to make just a drink with ice? 3 tablespoons, 4 tablespoons? or just eyeball the amount?

I'm a big fan of eyeballing and flavoring to taste (because there is no accounting for taste). We added the syrup to club soda and ice and we used about 2 ounces of syrup in a 16 oz glass.
