Excellent burner that does everything right
Very durable and reliable burner. Has fine grained flame control that allows for very low and very high flames and everything in between. The lighter is super reliable and always lit the flame on the first try. The locking mechanism for ensuring that the butane canister is inserted correctly is easy to use and feels safe and durable. The switch for enabling the fuel flow is a nice safety feature that made it easy to ensure that the gas only flowed when we wanted it to. A single butane canister is good for an hour or more even at the highest fuel flow settings. The carrying case makes it easy to securely pack the burner away with other gear while keeping it clean and dry at the same time. The black enamel surface cleans fairly easily and seemed pretty durable although it does accumulate rough spots over time, I think that's inevitable with a finish like this. It does look beautiful and sleek right out of the packaging and still looks quite nice even after dozens of uses. Highly recommended.

Like taking a burner from a kitchen gas stove on the road
There are several models of this stove: a 9,000 BTU (GS-3000), a 10,000 (GS-3500), and the one being reviewed (GS-3800). I bought the GS-3800 that came with a plastic carrying case. This is a great stove. It is compact, fairly small if used for car camping, and delivers a nice flame. It is like cutting out one of the gas burners from a nice kitchen stove and taking it on the road. My main worry was about the fuel, having ordered it with little chance to get a different one if I couldn't find the fuel. As others advised, I was able to find the fuel for $1.50 a can at a large Asian grocery store. The small store I tried first did not carry any fuel. The large one I went to (in a former Best Buy location) carried the fuel and, tpo my great relief, it was the first thing I saw when I walked in the door. When I bought it, most reviews complained about receiving a broken carrying case. I was lucky and received a stove and case that were undamaged. Obviously, I can't say what the chance is of receiving a broken case or whether they have fixed that problem completely. The case is handy, but not essential. It was worth the price I paid with or without the case. Since the parts that support cooking pots or pans can come out, it is very nice to have a case, but I could have found a heavy-duty fabric or leather bag for it.

Very convenient and functional product.
Highly pleased with stove. Heats very quickly with a minimum of cleanup. Light and stable and butane bottles last for several meals. Butane is cheap and available at any restaurant supply store for about $3.00 a bottle. My one disappointment is that I didn't receive the butane bottles I thought I'd purchased with the package deal, but, no matter, I'm well pleased overall.

Misleading Instruction Manual
This stove works fine, and I like it. I gave 4 stars for this product because of its misleading Instruction Manual. On Amazon web page I read “The stove uses standard 8oz butane canisters…” However, after receiving the stove I read in its Instruction Manual the following “This portable stove shall be used with 227 (8 Oz.) GASONE Model Gas-1 non-rellable fuel gas canister…” I wanted to test the stove on the same day but didn’t find this type of canisters in my local stores except ordering online. I was going to send back the product but decided to read reviews on Amazon web page. I was lucky to find the review written by David C. Goist who successfully used Sterno brand cartridge. I was able to purchase this type of cartridge in my local store and successfully tested the stove. I am very grateful to David C. Goist who helped me to avoid the hassles with returning this product. At the same time, I am NOT grateful to those who wrote this Instruction Manual.

Gas One compact camping or emergency stove
I like that Gas One stoves have safety features so they have a safety shutoff if there is any leaking gas. They also have a thermal heat shield so the gas doesn't heat up between the butane compartment and the burner. That is what sold me on it. Most of them are similar but I liked those features. It is metal and has a plastic case to store it in. It is a nice size, not too small so if I have a pan on top of the burner, it doesn't feel too small underneath. It feels stable. I got it for a cooking source for a power outage but I could use it camping or for an extra burner for large meals.

Perfect for Searing after Sous Vide cooking
Sous Vide cooking is wonderful for meats, but searing the meat in a cast iron skillet just after cooking was triggering the kitchen smoke alarm and causing a smoky haze. This GAS One 3900DF 11,000 BTU, dual spiral flame burner, placed on the workbench in our garage, heats up the cast iron skillet very quickly, without triggering the smoke alarm or causing smoke in the kitchen. Just remove the unit from its carrying case, snap in the butane cannister, turn the knob fully open, and the dual flames shoot up instantly. Within what seems like 30 seconds, the searing can begin, and a minute or two later you're done. I'd give the 3900DF ten stars, if that was possible. PS. If you haven't tried the Sous Vide method, you are really shortchanging yourself. Amazon sells several Anova systems.

Wonderful portable stove
I love this butane stove. It gets just as hot as your kitchen burner and a canister of butane lasts about an hour when running on the highest it'll go. The built in wind shield (not the separate wind screen) can be repositioned to face different directions. Easy to clean. Good flame control and flame color. Convenient to carry around in the case and safe to carry around with the butane loaded because of the gas disengagement lever.I've used everything imaginable with this and had great results: stainless steel pots, stainless steel pans, cast iron skillets, cast iron Dutch ovens, enameled Dutch ovens, cast iron griddles, stainless steel mixing bowls, and a marshmellow on a stick.
