Excellent value
Compared to other products, this Barndoor is built solidly and not flimsy as others are. My Bowens 7 inch reflector is a perfect fit and the gel filters are mounted in a metal rectangle giving them a sturdy feel and easy to insert into the guides. Simply put, for the price I was expecting a sub-standard flimsy Barndoor and I was pleasantly surprised.

Wouldn't work with RL-600 strobes
My reflector dish, was too small to attach it. It may be a good product, but you need a reflector dish larger than 6" (inch). I returned the product, but the quality seemed good, especially for the price.

Excellent (read on for a definitive review)
Disclaimer: not a short review. I'll be uploading some photos to go with the product photo abovePrior to buying this, as a charter member of Team Cheap and dedicated DIY-er, I sat through several YouTube presentations of home-made barndoors. But, if your time is worth anything, buy these barn doors rather than trying to make your own. These function just fine. They are an excellent deal for the money. Most reviewers state the same thing (see last paragraph, below, to find other reviews). The rest of my review just lists things I wanted to know prior to purchase. What you get: A white cardboard box containing 2 poly bags: (1) barndoor assembly, (2) honeycomb and 3 filters.NO storage box or pouchSince most of Amazon's many listings for this product don't give correct dimensions and weight:Country of origin: ChinaSize of package: 9 x 9 x 1-5/8 in.Shipping weight: 2 lb 6 oz (approx)Weight of barndoors alone: 1 lb 6 oz (approx)Addl weight for grid: 4.5 oz (approx)Addl weight per gel: 1.825 ozMaterial: all metal - steel? (Gels could well be polyester - no way for me to test; gel frame is metal)Actual size of overall barndoor assembly: 9 H x 8-1/4 W x 1-1/4 D in. (8-1/4 x 8-1/4 x 7/8 in. not counting thumbscrews)Size of rectangular doors (Top & Bot): 4-3/4 x 7-1/4 in.Size of trapezoidal doors (L & R): 4-3/4 x (7-1/4 tapering to 4-3/4) in.Dia. of opening: 6 in.Max. dia. of lamp reflector: 7 in.The filters definitely cut down on the strength of the light. The blue, red and yellow filters are transparent but not crystal clear. The 4th filter is a diffuser, a bit of neutral density-ness.These barndoors DO fit on a cheap 8 in. reflector clamp light (you know, those super-cheap, round aluminum reflector, hardware store work lights). This is my application - I'm using them in continuous, not flash, lighting for painting set-ups. The fit is a real stretch - the bottom spring has to be taken out of its catch & the thumbscrew and spring mounting points are a little stressed. They are heavy. I'm going to have to cobble up a mount for my cheapo light so that the clamp ties in at the balance point (way forward of where it is on the standard lamp).Measured angle of light from honeycomb grid: 45 deg. (significant light falloff after 30-35 deg.)The core plate of the barndoor is sheet metal formed over a hefty wire frame. The wire not only stiffens the core but also acts as axles for swiveling the barn doors. The 2 swivel clamps between each door and the wire frame consist of 2 plates, not a single strap bent over the wire. That's a plus: If years of door adjustments cause these to loosen up, you can easily remove and bend these plates to bear more heavily on the wire frame. Or, you could just loosen the screws, put a friction element between the plates and the wire... such as a small piece cut from a milk bottle... and tighten the screws back down.Secure mounting requires a lip on the reflector. The wire spring at the bottom and the acorn-nut ends of the thumb screws need to hook over a raised area. Most reflectors, at least most metal ones, have a rolled lip for stiffening. One reviewer notes that a thumb screw had broken off. The welded-on mounting brackets might well be a weak point. This is why epoxy was invented. There are currently at least 20 listings at Amazon for this product... same product. Most of these 20+ are the same thing called out for a different brand of lighting system (Bogen, Alienbees, etc.). Some of these have additional reviews you might want to read. For listings that contain reviews: Search All Products... put the following ASIN numbers (one by one) in the search box: B0054EJ4KY and B0054EJ48G - same product. Also, reviews for same product w/more colored gels and higher price: B004RYM2HE. Probably not the same product but very similar (gels affixed via magnets according to reviewer): B001AG63SQBTW, if you're going by price, as I usually do, there is a similar set with a smaller diameter and lower price. Be aware that, if the gels have standoff legs rather than being simple flat plates, you're very likely looking at the smaller barndoor, around 4-6 in. in dia.

Exactly what I needed!
Works very well on my Neewer studio strobes with reflectors (sold separately by another vendor.)These are made to attach to the outer edge of the reflector, not to the light itself. Once you have attached it properly with the adjustable screws, you can dismount / remount using a quick-release lever. All metal construction for great durability.

You get what you pay for.
The Fotodiox Universal Barndoor Kit is metal and appears to be robust, but the first one arrived broken, and its replacement doesn't inspire confidence that this product will be long-lasting. I'd go with another brand if you're on the fence about it.

Easy to use just wish it came with more colors ...
Solid build quality for the price. Easy to use just wish it came with more colors but its ok.

Know your stuff before you buy
This kit looks OK. Fairly sturdy and substantially made. But it mounts on a 7" reflector on your studio strobe. It won't fit on anything smaller. A fact not mentioned in the advertising blurb.

Simple, sturdy and good for beginners
Too much reflection off the inner sides of the barn doors. Sturdy product, but lacks in design of the doors to achieve a better light shaping. Very cheap gels. I can only use it as a backup or secondary modifier.
