The weight capacity is more than 35 lbs, but more weight, there is not tried.

Is the back material a thin cardboard material as commonly found in bookcases? Or is it more of a heavy-duty material?

The back is made of thin MDF board, 5mm thickness.

We ordered a grey one, they shipped us a white one by mistake, it is very white. We reordered and got the grey one. We like it.

Has anyone bought this in the grey color? Were you pleased with it?

I just got it today - it was $15 cheaper than the black I already had, and the mahogany, so I took a chance. It is *gorgeous*, so glad I chose it. The picture doesnt do it justice - the detail and grain pattern on the wood is fantastic and its just beautiful. it is not at all a "dull" grey. The wood is cut so the grain is vertical on the vertical pieces, and left to right on the shelves, giving both an elegant and sleek appearance. I now prefer it to my black one and Ive had it less than an hour!
