Great resource and good projects to hone your skills
I have known how to crochet for years, sporadically making projects. I found this book to be excellent to brush up and hone my skills as a crocheter. The instructions are easy to understand and the pictures are very helpful. I wish I had it years ago when I started to crochet.

Decent book to start with
I've done several projects from this book so far. I'm brand new at crocheting. There were a few times I had to YouTube certain things that the book didn't explain enough. Like the slip knot and how to double stitch and single stitch. And how to chain, lol. Guess it's not good at explaining the how to's. The projects themselves are easy enough to follow once you know the basics. I am finding mistakes in certain projects. Nothing big enough to screw up a project but enough for me to be like that doesn't make sense. All in all a good book to start learning with - just have you tube handy 😀An example of a 'mistake' that I found is on page 47. The picture at the bottom right says to work 2 rounds in front loop only but the actual instructions say to do only 1 round. So which do I do?? When that happens I just try both and see which looks better and go with that.3 months later...I found another HUGE mistake on pg 96-97. So huge I'm wanting to contact the author to find out what to do! She explains the pattern stitch in the directions but the pattern diagram is for stacked shells and not a V-stitch and it's a different stacked shell then on pg 92 because of the dc in between the shells. So where did the pattern come from?! So now my starting chains will be wrong because they require different counts and I'll have to choose which pattern to follow and then may have to redo it if it doesn't match up at the end of my row. I posted a picture so you can see how the written instructions don't match the diagram. I'm finding so many mistakes in this stupid book that my original 4 stars is going down to 3.Edit - ok so that pattern diagram was for another part of the pattern on the next page but there is still a mistake in it which is in the written definition for 'shell' under stitches used. It still doesn't match the diagram instructions. If the author is going to put diagrams on different pages then the written instructions then I wish she labeled them so there's no confusion.

Instant gratification. And useable by lefties.
If you have yarn and a hook, you can start with the first project the moment you sit down with the book. It's so doable. Every lesson builds upon the last until you are a proficient crochet-er. There are a few projects in there that I wouldn't have chosen to make - pinterest style. but they teach important skills and will be very useful and a nice present for someone.Should be mentioned that I also love the way it's bound - it stays open on my lap.and that I'm a leftie. And this book is for right handers. but because of the photographs, it's actually really easy to transpose into left handed-ness. I am very happy so far. It was very nice to get this book and be able to instantly make something. Perfect for someone who needs instant gratification.

Excelllent choice for beginner or a refresher course
This author is an excellent teacher, using explicit photography with each step as well as easy to understand instructions. There are also troubleshooting photos which I have found helpful (as in oh yes, that's what I did wrong when I tried that before). I really needed the section on choosing colors that work well together as I'm not an artist and needed help in that direction. I've crocheted for a long time but never took it "to the next level". I have other books on crochet but none have been as helpful or as easy to understand as this one. The projects are ones that I would like to make and use. Also included is the website for her videos, which are geared to the sections. I have made one of the many projects she has on Ravelry and had no problems with the instructions. She is one of the chosen few who can create as well as teach.

It is a great book for grown ups. I was hoping to teach my granddaughter with good pictures.

Fabulous
So awesome. Easy to read and use. Needed to learn some new stitches and brush up on basics because it had been 10 years since I'd crocheted anything. This was perfect. I'm intermediate knowledge. But this is good for someone who knows nothing or like me needs refresher

Ok, but....
The book is ok but it needs a bigger section on how to decrease on multiple types of stitches/patterns. I had to go to YouTube to find out how to decrease on a C2C pattern for a blanket. The projects are boring. It teaches you the pattern but the projects could've been better.
