pencil sharpener woes
I have yet to find a mid priced pencil sharpener that works well. I am trying out my 4th one.

Wonโt latch shut
Once batteries were in place, the latch would not stay shut. Had to tape it shut with duct tape.

Cool
It's not quite as powerful as I had hoped, but it works really well once you get the hang of it, and it doesn't take up much room on my desk.

RAZOR = SUBSTANDARD Sharpener
I've been trying to buy 2 good battery powered pencil sharpeners for my grandchildren like the iPoint I bought 5 years ago for $13.95. In my search I found one like my original, but it was NO LONGER AVAILABLE. So I ordered 2 iPoint "KleenEarth" sharpeners; got them in, opened one, put in batteries, began sharpening. It performed raggedly and broke the lead. Thinking it was defective, I opened the second one. Same ragged performance, only this time, unlike my original iPoint, it did not stop when point was attained; and it would have eaten the pencil up had I not stopped. I pulled off the shavings reservoir and saw that this sharpener did not have 2 grooved cylinder shaped blades that revolve around the pencil - it had a single little straight blade, like you'd expect in a hand twister sharpener. Well, there on the packageing it said "Razor". I packed them back up and returned for a refund. I then ordered 2 electric Bostitch models, tried out one. It made a very loud screeching sound. I reported it as performing with an INTOLERABLE sound, packed them up, and returned for refund. Back to my search. I found the Westcott iPoint Evolution Battery Pencil Sharpener, Wild Cherry. I enlarged the pic, it showed clearly at least one grooved cylinder-shaped roller blade. I read the discription to make sure it did not specify "razor". It did not. Ordered two. Got them in today. No need to tear off the packaging. Each sharpener clearly had a single straight razor blade. "Razor" was no where printed on the packaging. Instead it said, "Titanium Bonded Blades" - that's blades - plural. They are already repacked and mailed for refund. I'm now going to try to contact WESTCOTT and ask them - that if they had to adjust for the economy, why put out a substandard product? I will be more than glad to pay $20 to $25 each for two more like my original battery operated, portable, with double grooved cylinder-shaped roller blades iPoint pencil sharpener. My original is still working - so fine!

Works great!
Works very well for the soft colored pencils we bought it for. Brings a great tip without over sharpening.
