2012 compilation of songs that inspired Garage Rock legends the Cramps. 29 classic cuts including surfing wipe outs, wild man Rockabilly, crazed jungle misfits, honking saxophone and an attention to fashion sense. Deranged arrangements, dysfunctional lyrics and near the knuckle storylines of wild romance and wilder nights out with some swinging beats. Righteous.

Smells Like Sex!
Been a fan of the Cramps fer a real long time, Pops, & heard a lot about their amazing record collection. So when I heard about this series of songz from the archives of Lux 'n' Ivy, I jumped at it. And, man, it's even better than I imagined it would be! I have a pretty kool kollection myself, but there's plenty o' stuff here I DON'T have! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if ya dig offbeat & rare songs from the 50's & early sixties! It's like yer at a rekkid party thrown by Commando Lux & Mademoiselle Ivy & you (and a handful o' fun-lovin' yayhoos) are the only guests! (Hmmm, I wonder what's this purple liquid in the glass Lux just handed me . . .aw, what the heck, it's MY DREAM!) Enjoy, Kittenz 'n' Studz, your Life is about to be ELEVATED to the Land of Flipsville!!! Kidd Squidd

Not for all tastes but
An eclectic assortment typical from the Cramps collection of 45s. Not for all tastes but if you enjoy the unusual this might be enjoyable for you.

I could spend hours listening to tracks from Lux and Ivy's record collection. Many surprises within and also tunes that you may already be familiar with. Their tastes are broad and eclectic. Close your eyes and pretend that you are listening to A Mad Daddy radio show or a broadcast from WFMU. Gimme more!

That is wild wacky stuff
**Review originally appeared at https://midnighttosix.wordpress.com/The Cramps weren’t just a great band – they were rock and roll missionaries, fervently turning people on to long lost obscurities culled from their personal collection of rare 45’s and 78’s. That’s where this compilation comes from – it’s the third volume in a series of songs that Lux and Ivy either gushed about in interviews or played on various radio shows. It contains an impressive twenty-nine songs, covering the gamut of strange music prior to 1962 when Bob Dylan and The Beatles made it acceptable to be “out there”. Rockabilly, novelty records, jump blues, exotica and vocal groups gone mad are all represented here, with songs about things like witch doctors, swamp girls, caves – exactly what you would expect The Cramps to be listening to. The whole comp is likable from start to finish, but my favorite songs are Kip Tyler’s menacing “She’s My Witch”, The Playmates’ insanely speedy vocal workout “Beep Beep” and Nervous Norvus’ unnervingly creepy “Ape Call”. A few more jaw-dropping songs could have made this compilation more of an essential purchase, but it’s still a great deep dive into the Cramps aesthetic which hardcore fans of the band should not hesitate to take.

HIT AND MISS CD
MORE A POP ROCK ALBUM .SLIGHTLY DISSAPOINTING I EXPECTED MORE ROCK AND ROLL,THIS FALLS SHORT.IT SMELLS OF LOOKING SHORT OF THEIR COLLECTIONS ,SOME GOOD STUFF BUT OVERALL IT GIVES NO INSIGHT INTO THE CRAMPS ORIGINS.

Ok complete but I'm not sure Lux and Ivy would have approved all of these!

29 tunes on one CD for reasonable price for CRAMPS fans
was a fan of the cramps music and their hot lead guitarist IVY-glad to see that their personal collection reflects similarities to my own library-part surf psychobilly- part hopping doo wop-and raw jumping country blues and hillbilly-great CD collection that will add to halloween party soundtracks if there are any held during pandemic. i only recognized 3 artists on this cd-roy brown, bo diddley and bob luman so this was good as i prefer to discover good tumes from artists previously unknown to me-some outstanding tunes are SPEAK TO ME BABY by werly fairburn, and STROLLIN ON THE BEACH by the hollywood flames. Lux and Ivy....
Most artists have typical influences and tastes, to an extend, artists follow their road with an expanded awareness, but not the Cramps. This is the only single CD, in this collection from the vault of Lux and Ivy, but still contains a mental 29 songs! Awesome. Here there is a bit more roots rock songs and their driving beat can set any party straight, or at least with a chaser! A must to own....
