Can't beat the results
This is the first hole I've ever tapped. To say I'm a novice would be an understatement. But I bought the cheapest M6 tap/5mm drill combo on Amazon and threw caution to the wind. I drilled 2 holes in standard 1" wide bar steel from Lowes and then tapped them for an M6 bolt. The drill bit made short work of the drilling. It cut without much pressure and easily ate through the steel. I added a couple drops of oil for cutting fluid just to be on the safe side. I then put the tap in the handle, added more oil to the bit/hole and proceeded to cut threads in the hole. 1/2 turn forward, 1/4 turn back. The tap bit easily and I was left with 2 perfectly tapped holes in my project. My skill isn't what got the job done here, it was the tool. I don't know how this will hold up through the years but for this project, the price was right and the result was perfect.

A lot cheaper and easier than the alternative.
Problem: Stripped threads on cast iron equipment.Solution: Drill the stripped hole out and tap for bolt one size large.Time Spent: Less than ten minutes. Results: Works better than factory because now I have course threads in cast iron rather than fine threads which strip easily in cast. This was definitely the cheaper and better solution.

Smooth cutting means well made
This drill and tap set is far and away better than you will get in an import kit. The drill cut very well, giving even chips from both sides. The tap cuts butter smooth which indicates all of the teeth are of proper geometry and insures a proper fit of the fastener being used. No binding or threads that look like they were gnawed by tiny insects.

Not bad but the drill bit is very weak
I used this bit and tapped some holes for my laser engraver frame with 2020 V-slot aluminum. I also used the slowest speed at 600rpm on my drill press, but it snapped by the second hole going slow.If I were you, I would have a high-quality backup drill bit. Otherwise, the threading went without an issue, and the tolerance seems good. I was bummed about the drill bit, but I had backup bits, so it wasn't a huge deal.

Drill and 10-32 Tap
For what I needed it for it has worked great. I had to change a muzzleloader ramrod end threads from 8-32 to 10-32 because most accessories come in 10-32. Granted I was drilling and tapping Brass and it worked perfect so I can't tell you how it would work on steel or any other medium.

Great quality, with a quick delivery.
The bit and tap are correctly paired. The quick delivery made the job easy.

The temper on these taps/bits suck!
I had four holes I needed to tap in 1/2" mild steel. I should have just bit the bullet and spent the money on a good tap instead of trying to cheap out on this one.The drill bit wasn't even hard enough to drill through mild steel and had to use a different bit that was 1/64" smaller to get the job done. After drilling out my four holes I tried going back to shave off that extra 1/64" with the bit that came in this kit, and all that happened was the steal marred and flattened the cutting surface of the drill bit.I should have known better than to continue but I foolishly went ahead and used the tap itself. I was able to carefully tap the first hole by backing out after every quarter turn of cutting and clearing the flutes of the metal flakes. I should have stopped there since the tap was flexing a lot (even when stopping every quarter turn of cutting). I got about half way through my second hole (using the same method) when the tap miraculously snapped in half leaving half of the tool still in the hole. I should have known better but I am furious at how terrible the tap performed. If you need to tap holes in plastic, or aluminum, or something softer like sharp cheddar, this product is for you. If you want to use it for actual work look elsewhere. I've sinced purchased some real taps from McMaster-Carr and a tap extractor. I'll never buy another product from this company again. I've learned my lesson. Buy once cry once.

Cut like butter
Worked great! Had used this to retap the spark plug threads on an early 2000 Ford F-250 motor (did with engine in vehicle). So I had bought a $250 calvan 38900 kit specifically made for the Ford 2 valve motor’s spark plug thread repair, BUT the tap from that kit was trash. Wasn’t “biting” and kept spinning in place.Decided to try this tap, with some modification I was able to make it reach deep down a v10 spark plug tube. I grinded the square end as round as I could, then grinded that into a hex shape to fit a 10mm socket on it. (I just used a 10mm bolt and a fine point sharpie to mark it). Once it fit, attached my 10mm socket + a 6” extension, electrical taped it together so I wouldn’t loose the tap or socket/extension in the cylinder and threaded the spark plug hole to receive the calvan brand thread insert. This tap cut like butter!! compared to the overpriced junk I tried. Great quality tap (didn’t use the other bit, but seems like it’s of good quality too. I definitely recommend this set.

It's a drill and tap
It's a drill and tap, it drills and it taps. It showed up in one piece and it worked.
