Read the instructions
I had older Victorio manual crank model; time consuming, but I did it. Later, bought add-on motor to make it electric. It leaked all over the place from every end, but I used it for years.I just got the Weston model this week, used for 1st time today. Once I put it together, I finished 7 qts of tomato sauce to freeze in 30 minutes. No leaks, works great. But read the instructions!I had watched a woman do tomatoes in one on a video. First thing I noticed is gray juice running out of her machine.1. The head is aluminium. If you run it through the dishwasher, it's no longer shiny. Instructions say only plastic parts are dishwasher safe.2. Instructions say to coat head with food-grade silicone spray. -bc we all have that sitting around.🙄 I lightly coated with vegetable oil; no gray juice.Instructions say to chop food into smaller pieces and not to run for more than 5 minutes at a time. I noted one review complained hers caught on fire, so I figured that was a good rule to follow.I cleaned my tomatoes, did not blanch, cut up some into a container, ran them through, shut it off and cleared shute before preparing another container full. May sound tedious, but -7 quarts of sauce in 30 minutes! The manual style made doing tomatoes a long process. Adding a motor to it made a horrible mess with wasted product & clean up a nightmare. THIS is so worth following the instructions, and clean up was a breeze.I noted one review complained about the shute being so low that it was hard to get a decent sized bowl under it. Maybe they rectified that bc shute is adjustable. BUT:With the manual model, having the shoot too high caused a back up and - you guessed it-leaks. But I was limited on where I could use it bc it mounted to the edge of a countertop with a clamp. This Weston model has no clamp and can be used anywhere. I set it next to the sink with a large bowl and small bowl sitting in the sink. The product came out of the shute into large bowl and the skin/waste went into small bowl. Clean up was a breeze!Noise level- not as loud as the add on motor I had. Not a heavy duty motor, I understand why they advice to not run continuously. Value- phenominal, given time and product saved, no mess, easy clean up, user friendly set up (if you read the instructions). If they had used stainless for the head, the gray residue wouldn't be an issue, but comparing prices of higher end models, it makes it more affordable to use aluminium.

Absolutely love the electric food mill
I've been canning for about 45 years. I've always used a hand crank tomatoe food mill for my sauce. HOWEVER, after using this electric food mill, canning sauce is sooo much easier. The unit is NOT loud. I find that during the process I do have to use the reverse button every now and then to unclog the spiral strainer. But other wise this so much quicker and does a great job. I did have to build a box for it to set on so I could fit a kettle under the shoot. GREAT PRODUCT for all you homesteaders. Also relatively easy to clean.

Weston electric tomato seed separator
The media could not be loaded. This machine is awesome! I’ve read several reviews where they said that it was a disaster for them do not buy so on and so forth. The only thing I can say is is when you work with tomatoes or fruits that have a lot of juice in them and you’re wanting to can and prep and all that stuff you have to expect some sort of mess. Do you think a system is going to be just totally clean and, not make any kind of a mess at all is ridiculous. No machine does I don’t care how many hundreds of dollars or thousands of dollars you pay for it and they’re out there too that are that expensive. For 100 bucks This unit gets five stars out of five stars. I highly recommend a person buys this if they’re going to be doing a large amount of seed separating or grinding on fruits and vegetables. It’s inexpensive and efficient. I did 8 gallons of tomatoes that I had previously frozen because I wanted to do one big batch and I was done in about 25 to 30 minutes. There’s always gonna be cleanup no matter what you use. So when it comes to the naysayers personally, I would just disregard them because for the money this thing works absolutely fabulous. It would’ve taken me over three hours to grind out by hand what I did in 25 to 30 minutes With this machine with virtually no effort.

Not 100% happy
It works ok, but here is why I'm not happy with it: It doesn't have much clearance when placing a bowl to catch the juiced tomatoes. So I have to place it on the edge of my counter & position a bowl in the sink to catch the juice & another bowl to catch the seeds/skins. Very inconvenient. Also, I don't know why, but when juicing tomatoes, sometimes (occasionally) you can see a gray stream interspersed with the juice. I'm hoping it's ok. But other than that, easy to use and clean. The only thing I have used it for is juicing tomatoes.

Works well for applesauce
Made applesauce relatively effortlessly. I think I started out with the wrong screen. The sauce that came out close to the machine looked great but as it approached the end of the cone, some pieces of apple peel were coming out of the screen holes into my collection bowl. I switched to the smaller screen and re-processed it, which produced better, but still not perfect results. So, I ran it through a third time and am very happy with the end results. I wasn't expecting to have to process it multiple times and don't know if it would have been better if I used the smaller-holed screen from the beginning. The second pass barely required any pushing of the mash and the third pass flowed right through. So, even passing it through 3 tumes, was quite fast and required little effort...much better than peeling and coring the apples or cranking a manual food mill. Assembly & disassembly are straightforward and all parts are easy to clean. I wish the sauce was dispensed higher so a taller bowl would fit under without having to elevate the machine and that there was an all-metal option for durability but, for now, I am happy with this machine.

Cuts down processing time.
We were processing tomatoes with a hand crank unit and after a day of it had shoulder issues. Purchased this and what a difference it made. Our efficiency improved a lot, we were doing more tomatoes at a quicker rate. With the changeable cones our salsa and tomato juice came out much better. Very easy to assemble and clean and all parts and materials feel to be durable.
