Well Arranged Book with Misleading Title
As a Kindle author myself, I admire the design and layout of "The Best Banjo Book." Kelly Weeks has cleverly interlaced links to video and audio examples of the 25 exercises (he calls them songs) that can help a new clawhammer banjo student learn the basic right-hand and left-hand techniques. In fact, Kelly has shown me some features here that I did not think possible. The book's shortcomings lie in the title and the expectations it may create. At least one reviewer seemed to be looking for a Scruggs-style (three-finger) instruction book, and that is not the style that Kelly is teaching here. Also, the "25 songs" are really basic exercises that the student can play along with a video or an audio track. Someone looking to add new tunes to her repertoire will be disappointed in these selections. However, as exercises, these "songs" can help a new student build basic skills step by step.

Beginner
This was good for the very beginner banjo player. Nice easy songs to play. May be an easy review. Good memory exercise.

Kinda lame.
You may well like this book. Different people learn different. It just didn't do it for me. I liked Pat Costello's better. The How and Tao.

I like it BUT
if you buy the Kindle version the pictures don't expand and are too small to read where you fingers pick.

much better books out there
I personally prefer the Bluegrass for Ignoramus book over this one...or the Earl Scruggs teacher...This is not a purchase I would recommend

Great value, really helpful for an absolute beginner.
When I read the first review I passed this book by in my search for help learning the banjo. I bought a hardback 'teach yourself' book then discovered the difficulty in accessing the Internet links - albeit they were helpful once found. I came back to this kindle book after a week and thought I couldn't go wrong when it is FREE. I downloaded not really knowing what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. There are 'live' links actually in the book so they are immediately accessible (unlike with the hardback) and by downloading the book not to my basic kindle but to my Ipad I could read the text then immediately watch the video and as a result I am very happy with the progress made in a few hours. This book is FREE, the internet links work, they system allows me to learn - what's not to like??

I was going to buy a uekele
So bought this so ideas would flow, however i have not bought the Uekele. I did however buy a Kayak as i need to lose weight and although i would have possibly been twanging away with my hands full i decided to go outside and feel the air and water and abandon the Uekele. Maybe i could still get the musical instrument and take it with me on the water.
