Great book
I bought this book to help my leaf addicted autistic daughter to help identify leaves. Very nice book.

A treasure of information
Well organized, large clear pictures. A well made book that uses shiny paper that is resistant to a point to raindrops and such. The size makes it convenient to carry with you. Well worth the money, and as usual, costs less through Amazon than in a bookstore.

it isn't a very good field guide
First, the book came with spine damage, so i had to return it. Second, it isn't a very good field guide. It has limited species and doesn't describe field marks of trees very well. Very disappointed in its limited selection.

A field guide without any useful information could be very light and portable
I just got this in and I am impressed. With field guides there is always the balance between not enough or too much information to consider. A field guide without any useful information could be very light and portable, while a field guide with too much information becomes a reference text and turns into a shelf queen. A part of the problem is guides covering the whole world instead of one specific region have to include many species you are unlikely to see outside of botanical gardens unless you are a world traveller. This field guide is just about in the middle, it is too big to be a hip pocket guide but still light enough to go along in the car or in a pack on an outing. If you want a very portable field guide to take on a hike then you might want to look for a small local guide that only covers the area you will be in even if it does not have as many different species in it, but if you want one that is a bit more of a reference for casual trips or car camping this one is nice.I must say the profile illustrations and photos are nicely done.
