It works!
I am so pleased! It works with my old sony DVD player that is at least 23 years old! Connected to my smart TV seamlessly. Plays CDs and DVDs.... shame the batteries were left in my remote untouched for 15 years... a bit of a chemical mess! Now I need to try and find a remote control. :)

works great for me except for one glitch (probably due to my ignorance)
I'm super pleased with this RCA to HDMI converter. My intended use for a DVD player with composite RCA outs but no HDM was to play music without screen access (using the coaxial digital out to a DAC and my stereo system), but so little info shows on the player front that I wanted to be able to access Display and also Menu for settings. With your converter I'm finding picture quality is so good I'm preferring to watch DVDs as well as listen to CDs. The hiccup is that sometimes, after something being watched has been stopped for a while (maybe always when the DVD player has been turned off—as it often will do automatically if it sits around awhile), instead of the sound coming through the coaxial cable correctly, I get a clicking noise instead of the output from the coaxial cable. I've tried different settings on the DVD player, unplugging the audio cables into the converter, but I haven't been able to get it to always work properly. It's great when it does, but pretty annoying when I press play and get that clicking. Is this a know issue, and if so do you know of a fix? Or tell me what I've got wrong?LATER: I'm totally pleased now that I've figured out I need to eject DVD and have player resume from previous stopping point. When I do this the sound output through toslink to DAC works fine.

It needs it own power source
The product is decent, I have an old ps2 that I can't use on a modern television. The only criticism I have is that the product needs it's own power source, but otherwise works fine.

Perfect solution for connecting old game consoles (Nintendo 64, etc.) to new 4K Tvs.
I use this converter to connect our old video consoles (Nintendo 64, Wii, PS2, etc.) to the HDMI input on a 4K TV. Insallation is simple. Connect the 3 RCA outputs from the console to the 3 RCA inputs on the converter. Use an HDMI cable (not included) to connect the converter to the HDMI input on the TV. Finally, use the mini USB cable (included) to power the converter. The converter does NOT include a power supply. But, my TV had 2 USB ports on the back. I plugged the USB cable into one of these ports and that worked perfectly. Alternatively, you could use an old cell-phone wall charger for power (or any power supply with a standard USB port.) There is a switch on the side of the converter that allows you to select either 720 or 1080 ouput resolutions. Please note that the converter does not “upscale” the game console resolution. Old game consoles have an aspect ratio of 4:3. On my TV the picture is stretched and expanded to fill the entire screen. This causes some distortion of the picture and (compared to 4K) makes the picture slightly “fuzzy”. But the unit works great and my kids are happy with picture. I should also note that the sound works perfectly as well.
