Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Knitting

Excellent Reference
This purchase was a replacement of an earlier edition that I wore out; I also passed it along to my daughter who is becoming excited about knitting. Yes, the first chapter is devoted to outlining the history of the craft, but the entire rest of the book systematically covers the fundamentals, as well as more advanced techniques complete with helpful illustrations. A variety of patterns for different types of knitting projects follows with a very useful stitch dictionary at the end. Each stitch pattern includes a large photograph, as well as written instructions and a chart, which I have appreciated on multiple occasions. I find it very easy to follow. Are there stitch patterns that aren’t covered? Absolutely! But there are certainly a healthy assortment represented in a completely user-friendly format that will meet most people’s needs. It’s a great general reference. Not only did I pass along my older edition, I purchased two newer ones; I’m giving a copy to my son’s girlfriend and keeping the second for myself! Out of all my books on knitting, it’s the one I turn to the most!

Glad I got this wonderful book.
What a book! The directions and photos are clear and easy to follow The pictures are in color and makes me want to learn to knit the design in every one of them. I'm so glad I got this book. My knitting will now have no excuse for lack of imagination or inability to knit the most complex patterns. This book is such fun!

Nice reference
A good reference book for knitting, and has some really nice patterns in it too. I bought this used and saved a ton of money. You'd never know the copy I bought was previously owned. Can't wait to make the throw featured on the cover.

I do not like it as well as the one I ordered for crochet
I received the book promptly and in excellent condition. It is very helpful with the stitches I don't use often. The diagrams are not as though as the crochet book by Donna Kooler.
