Harpoon!
Great rocket and very challenging build with 12 fins. The tube appears decent out of the package, but becomes very coarse as others have noted and will show after first coat of primer and paint. It tends to absorb paint and primer unlike Estes kits. Primer, primer, sand, sand, primer, primer, sand, sand to get the tube lines and waviness out. This is where the skill level 3 kicks in. I think the instructions prescribing the bend in the engine retainer clip is unnecessary and causes the motor mount tube to warp. The motor mount tube is rather thin and not wax coated and gets soft with primer. I do like the included kevlar shock cord design that attaches to the motor mount. Like many other rocket kit instructions, the concept of knots is lacking. Tell me a square knot instead of simply a double knot. I also like to use bowlines and double surgeon loops hitched together to connect the kevlar to the elastic cord. Other than that, good, above-average instructions.I had one heck of a time debating whether to paint the nose cone gloss white or leave it primer gray for contrast. I ended up making it gloss white. Rocket looks awesome and ready to take out floating vessels. The waterslide decals are top notch and make this rocket very detailed looking. I can't wait to fly it. I also added a 7x7 nomex chute protector. I have attached a photo to show what it can look like with a gloss white nose cone.

Close, but not quite a winner
I've been building Estes rockets for years - this was my first Quest kit. For the most part, I'm very happy with the quality of the materials with one notable exception - the body tube is fairly low quality; not very stiff (I had to make it round again) and the coil lines really ruin the finish because you can't get rid of them and hence, you don't get a smooth body finish, even after a lot of prep work to remove them. Really too bad, because outside of the poor body, everything else on this model is fantastic. The waterslide decals are much easier to work with than the Estes versions. Minus the annoying tube lines, the rocket looks great and is super fun to launch. Worth adding to your collection, especially as good scale models are hard to find, but maybe collectively we can add some pressure to the manufacturer to spend an extra nickel or dime on a tube worthy of the rocket.

Very nice model
This is a solid, very nicely designed and furnished model rocket kit. The materials look to be good quality and sturdy, and the design is fairly accurate to life. I anticipate this being a great model which I will probably choose not to fly but hand from a ceiling.

Fun rocket to both build and fly
Fun rocket to both build and fly. Had a little trouble with the decals tearing. Looks great and flies great.

Bad ass!!
The twelve fins on this monster really help it stand out from the crowd. I am just in the paint stage now. I can't wait till spring so I can launch this bad boy with my kids and nephews.
