Not perfect, but worth it with the savings.
I read the reviews and knew exactly what I was getting. I'm willing to overlook that I'm going to have to regrind the tips to make these work better and that the spreaders could fit a little better. If you have a fast setting glue or are using a lot of these at once or are using these on a daily basis then you may want to invest in the German set for an additional $180. I use these about once a month so I saved some money. I'm a trim carpenter by trade and appreciate well made and designed tools. This isn't critical, so these get a pass.I did order a 10 pack of the German made "D" size. Thats the size I really needed. With the combination of these, the spreaders plus the D size, I still managed to get what I needed and save $.

fills a gap
As a finish carpenter I pre-assemble everything I can. I use Collins pinch clamps for the majority of these assemblies but there are times when they don't exert enough pressure to close a short point in a twisted moulding. These clamps do. Much of my assembly is done from the back side so the hole left by the clamps are a non issue. These clamps do benefit from a bit of re-grinding. It took about 30 min. at the bench grinder to sharpen them to a flat bottomed sharp point. The advantage is that they grab better when the clamping angle is less than ideal as one finds on the back side of crown moulding and the holes left are much smaller and easier to touch up on the rare occasion that I use these on the front of an assembly.I give them 4 stars instead of 5 because of the regrind, but consider the purchase money well spent when I compare these to the Ulmia clamps at nearly 3x the price without a huge difference in function.

baseboards and casing
I was a little nervous purchasing this. Not b/c of the product but rather b/c I had to have it delivered to the office and was worried that the mailroom would think I am into midieval torture and role play! Despite my concern the clamp set arrived without complicationThis is easy to use and helped keep all my corners nice and tight. I took one star away b/c the points aren't quite as 'clean' as they could be. If you're OCD like me you'll want to file them before using. If possible I'd take away another half star for the clamp size selection. There is a pretty big gap in size b/n the small clamps and the larger two sizes you see in the photo. But, I have limited applications for them so in the end not a big deal.

Wonderful and simple
I picked up a book on doing trim carpentry a couple of years ago so I could improve my results. In the book he recommend several techniques and tools. Spring miter clamps were recommended for glueing all of the door and window moldings before mounting them. What a marvelous difference. The spring spreader is a well made forged tool with comfortable handles. The spring wires are very strong but easily spread with the tool. The tips of the wires are cut on a diagonal so they are quite sharp on the leading edge so they penetrate even hardwood easily and thus stay in place, imperitive with miter work. I consider them one of my favorite tools along with my new skills picked up from Trim Made Simple from Gary Katz.

Easy to use and a must have to hold mitres together.
I have more then one of these type of sets. Regrettably my other sets were a waste of money. Your set is great. It’s much stronger then the ones I’ve used in the past. I would however make the openings a bit smaller on some of the springs. I’m a master woodworker and trim carpenter and the smaller opening would serve me much better. Thank you.

Good value
I loved the price, and the shipping was quick. Many of the clamps do not bit into the wood thought. I had to take the grinder and sharpen the points. Otherwise, good product.

Not perfect, but it does the job.
The hand tool does not fit the clamps very well. May fit better with continued use but it is a bit frustrating. May need to file the hand tool so the clamps go on and off easier.

Worth it
Work good. These clamps include less clamps in the set than the original spring clamps I have used before and have a little less quality in the craftsmanship. But for a quarter the price I think it is a smarter buy. If you want more clamps buy two sets and you have just as many for half the price.
