Catholic Bible for Children Paperback – October 3, 2011

This is the best Catholic Children's Bible I have ever seen! The paper pages are a heavy, slick type of paper, with a lovely hard cover, to easily withstand lots of reading from children & parents. The stories (one on each page) are brief, yet covey the important facts - just right for kids up to grade 6, The realistic, yet simple illustrations are superb, with pictures on each page. A glossary in the back - of people, places, & events - explains more about each topic - very handy to show kids how to look up things. These are perfect for gifts for grandchildren, religious ed classes, etc. Once the kids see this book, they will not want to put it down. Of course, being a children's bible, it doesn't mention anything about metaphors, genres of literature, etc. They can get that from the "Catholic Youth Bible" by St. Mary's Press - which Amazon also carries. That one is great for middle school & high school kids, & also adults. This Catholic Children's Bible is even good for adults - who want to skim thru & get the general drift of what happened when their child comes home from religious ed class & says they learned about so & so in the Bible, and the parents are thinking - I sort of remember what that's all about! They can look it up in a minute! The Amazon price for this Children's Bible is so great, too. I have a lot of professional experience to back up my review of this book, & I give it a 5 star plus, plus, plus rating, because it's so hard to find a really good Catholic Children's Bible!!!!

A very easy to follow, simple version of the Bible for younger children. The illustrations are very nice and the Bible stories are easy to follow for children from the age of 3 and up.I haven't found anything objectionable in the interpretations, and the messages are appropriate and faithful to the traditional versions.A great start for young Christians.It is a sturdy book, as well. Which is a plus!

My son loves it so much and the graphics make it so interesting

My 3 year old son was very excited to receive this Bible for Easter and we have enjoyed reading the stories as a family since. My 4 year old daughter received the New Catholic Picture Bible as a part of her preschool homeschooling curriculum and while it is a good Bible and portrays the stories more as a regular Bible it can be hard to keep the kids attention with it. This Bible however has their attention from the moment we take it out to read a story. They will certainly grow into the other Bible but this is one evern the youngest child will thoroughly enjoy.

This bible is great for little ones. The pictures help to keep them interested. I read it to my 7 year old. The only downside is that it does skip quite a bit. While reading, my son gets confused because it skips over so much so quickly (jumps from 1 story to another within 1 page). It is still a great starting point though for kids who are new to the bible or who can't sit still for very long!

It's well written and illustrated and covers the main stories. It is a little simpler than I expected. Will be good for 2nd grade.

Great quality, pictures, and nice short stories for children to comprehend and utilize the short attention span of young children. It held my two and seven-year-old girls' attention through three stories while my husband read to them. Hope it will work for our five-year-old boy as well. It has definitely surpassed our expectations. Better than any children's bibles we had in the past. The pages are thick and glossy to stand up to wear and tear.

Went into a bible book store and saw many options for kids, but many had "going to hell" and judgmental material not suited for children. I was told by the bible book store that when I asked to a Catholic version that they "did not sell CULT versions".So VERY HAPPY with the purchase, daughter is getting the right messages from the this book.
