15" Recreational Classic Chess Board Strategy Game, Brown/Tan

Not sure what this is actually made out of, but it’s good for the price, and seems like it’ll keep its shape over time (wood can warp/sag). Family member also bought one so we can remotely play chess on the same type board. Would recommend over paper board.

It's a chess board, what can I say?

This product is advertised as having 1.5" squares. It does not; it has 1.625" squares with a 13" square playing field. I did not get what was advertised or what I wanted - thus it goes back. However, the deficiencies extend way beyond the wrong square/playing field size. This chess board screams "Look at me, I'm cheap junk". The board is 15" x 15" x 0.35" thick. Yes, that is less than 3/8" thick. It has small corner peg-legs, triangular in shape, 0.45" thick that elevate the board above whatever it sits upon.. The board that I received was sanded smoothly over 3/4 of the playing field with a coat of wax applied, but not polished. The other 1/4 of the playing field had raised grain and was not properly finished. "Burl Wood"? I can only guess that it means imitation cheap wood grained vinyl covering, because that's what it looks like. It came with a significant nick on one side. The box was undamaged, thus this nick did not occur during shipping. Seems like quality control was not a priority for the manufacturers. The best one word description of this board is shoddy, two word description: shoddy junk. Can you play chess on this board? Yes for awhile. What's it actually worth? Certainly less than the vinyl sheet boards that I hate playing on.

It's very nice looking but very thin and too light.Not as good as one I would make if I could set my power tools up in my apartment.

Nice everyday chessboard. Adequate size at 15" x 15" but must make sure the individual pieces you have or order are right for the square sizes. Most will do just fine. Nice box for storage. Shipped well. Can recommend!

Looks expensive

One of four foot pieces on the back of the board was broken. Not a big big problem - glue would fix it - however it just does not seem right.

This was a beautiful chess board. When another person questioned its make up, wood or plastic, the dealer was quite prompt to reply that it was all wood, with a thin veneer wooden top. That's integrity!

I bought this, and it got to me super fast. The board has some small imperfections, which normally I could over look, but there was more then one or two. Beautiful colours, but I don’t know that it’s with the money, especially since it doesn’t come with pieces

Très belle table, pas trop épaisse, donc peu robuste... Je me demande ce qui justifie le prix. Quoi qu'il en soit, je suis très, très heureuse de l'avoir commandée!! Merci!!
