Mongolian-English/English-Mongolian Dictionary & Phrasebook (Hippocrene Dictionary & Phrasebook)

Mediocre print quality
Content seems to be good but the printing of the book was done pretty cheaply. The text is readable, but somewhat faint and somewhat smudged, enough to slow you down. I don't really need that extra challenge when I'm already learning a new language in a new alphabet.

useful for a while
I purchased this just to be able to throw some smalltalk txt messages to my beautiful mongolian girlfriend. The book explains a bit about grammar and culture which is interesting and provides a very limited set of phrases. I ran out of phrases in a couple of weeks. The phrasebook does not include a cheesy section so I could not say "I miss you". Damn it !Overall is a good value for money and a great introduction to this neglected and peculiar language. Buy it immediately if you are curious, but don't expect to learn much.

Mongolia
This dictionary is fine, but be aware that the Mongolian language uses the Russian alphabet plus a couple of added letters so there are sounds that we are not familiar with. Also none of the words are even close to English, it's not founded in the "romance" languages so it is harder to remember words.

Simple but Good
If you need a Mongolian-English dictionary for a quick trip, then get this dictionary. Otherwise look elsewhere. The number of words is limited. However, it's the only one with pronunciation help, grammar help and quick everyday reference words. It would be good for a traveler but not someone planning on staying in Mongolia long-term.

Four Stars
The dictionary is good, considering the lack of availability of great materials for studying Mongolian.

Mongolian guests rated this a good book
We used this book when our Mongolian in-laws were visiting and the Mongolians said it was a good book (sain nom). It was a big help since we had no language in common.

It helped
Needed help when we had a Mongolian visitor. Showing the word/phrase in the book was the best way to communicate as my pronunciation was not understood!!
