Close Connections: The Bridge Between Spiritual And Physical Reality is one of my favorite book dealing with metaphysics and the Baha'i Faith. Coming from a more materialistic background, I struggled with understanding how the physical and spiritual could possibly interact. In fact, it is something that I had not really addressed before. I had figured that they were simply different realities that just did not cross boundaries.Boy was I wrong!The author, John Hatcher, goes deep into the connections between the physical and spiritual. Basing the book on the Writings of the Faith, Hatcher makes a compelling case as to how the physical and spiritual interact. Setting a clear explanation of the function of the Manifestations, and Baha'u'llah's in particular, Hatcher manages to develop a readable, yet scholarly explanation of how the two seemingly disparate realms are simply each one half of the other. The Manifestation As Spiritual Physician was one chapter that really blew me away and gave me much to ponder on in how I relate to Baha'u'llah.Here, Hatcher says:"The Manifestation prescribes the remedy for what ails us, but He does not impose that remedy on us. The ultimate efficacy of the remedy thus depends on our individual and collective free will to recognize the True Physician and to accept His prescription for healing our ills.Here again the paradigm for success is knowledge coupled with action. As with any procedure for rehabilitation and healing, we must follow the guidance with rigorous dedication over time. The training or education of the human collective is, therefor, a subtle process. As we have noted, the goal of the process is to bring about a voluntary response on the part of humankind, a response based on recognition of the essential justice and love inherent in the guidance itself."It really deals with the realities of life, of God, of death, and how they all fit together, in a very intelligent yet accessible way.Highly recommended!

Answers to the questions everyone asks are, given from a Baha'i perspective, logical and reasonable. I'd also like to say that even though I purchased used, the book condition was excellent.

This book is so amazing, I'm reading it for a second time! It deals with all the questions I ever asked about life and death, God, creation, what it's all about. I can't recommend it too highly.

John Hatcher, Phd., has the finest mind, keenest insight and the most articulate way of expressing the link between the physical and the spiritual in the English language. His latest books are "must reads" for the serious thinker, seeker...lover of the Light.

Hatcher, a professor of English and a long-time Bahai, explores the relationship between the spiritual world and the physical world through the lens of the Bahai faith. Based on the Bahai belief that there is no conflict between religon and science, Hatcher does an excellent job of developing the relationship between an individual's spirit and the physical world.

Very interesting and very thought provoking. Really appreciate this book ,helpful with the struggle to understand our ture reality. Thanks
