Hellboy Omnibus Volume 4: Hellboy in Hell (Hellboy in Hell Omnibus)

Enigmatic final story
Absolutely gorgeous from front to back, with only a single slightly confusing couple of panels (in terms of composition) in the final issue during a fight sequence. The ending is a but of a puzzle and, even with the back-up story to which it alludes, I'm not sure I completely understand Mignola's intent. That said, I'm not unsatisfied with it and quite enjoy picking through the meaning a year on.The story is mostly serialised, with only one or two one-shots. Mignola is on record saying that he felt the story quickening pace without intentionally doing so, but it feels like a natural progression and a fantastic denouement to Hellboy's story.I do wonder whether Mignola tired of the idea of writing a perpetual, wandering Hellboy story and decides to end the book for that reason, but it doesn't affect my enjoyment of it at all. Death of the author and all that.Loved it.

Great
Great book from one of my favourites artists. Production values could be better, had to get a replacement sent and in a few of my library edition I've had marks from the printing presses, inconsistencies in blocks of colour etc but on the whole they've been ok, but not great. I feel that a lot of the art work in the library editions are oversharpened, most of the lines don't look like they've been drawn by pen/pencil and have quite a digital look to them. But Mignola is a don, and his style is irresistable. The sketchbook section is as excellent as in the other library editions too.

Good semi ending
4 stars because it finished.... Seriously, the tone of this volume is really dark. I missed hellboys humour. It was the end for Hellboy but the real end happened in BPRD

Not as good as the first three volumes
Not as good as the first three volumes and the ending seems a bit rushed overall. However it still has the unique art and interesting storytelling concepts to keep your interest.
