It turned out that the rush of water from a washing machine drain is far more powerful than this unit can produce. No institutions were given.** A: I bought mine in 2014. On the back of the package (model 340) there are instructions 1) Remove aerator and connect faucet adapter to faucet. YOY WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE TRAP. **Q: Wouldn't the pressure blow the pee trap apart on a sink?** A: Dave, the pressure for the smaller units is high - but not enough to blow the pipes or connections. I assume that it is possible to have a completely stopped up sink whereby someone poured concrete down your drain. In that case, something would have to "give". But as long as your clog can be moved thru your pipes, this will do the trick. I use three of them in conjunction......kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and shower drain. My kitchen sink has about a 30ft run until it hits my main drain line, and has a bad tendency to develope a grease clog about 15-20ft down. Drain chemicals won't touch it. My 3/8 25ft auger just punches through but then the clog close back up when I pull it out. Everytime it happens I'm never able to successfully clear it unless I pay a plumber or rent one of the big powered augers. Last time I paid $275 for the plumber, and if I rent the auger its almost $100. I recently learned of the Drain King and thought I'd try it. Popped it in my clean out and let it go for about 3 minutes, then did another round for 3-4 minutes. My sinks drain perfectly fine now. This thing was worth every penny.
