Accubrush XT Paint Edger Deluxe Kit with Free MX Edger

First thing I will say is that I was not thrilled about all the plastic on it. It has not broken on me or anything but I would advise others to be conscientious about this fact. Other than that it is quite accurate and efficient to use compared to the time of cutting in and out with a regular brush. I do not paint a lot, I am really only a janitor and window cleaner, this is what I do on the side if I need to fill some time in on a project that is not too overbearing.

I am a professional painter and bought this item although skeptical at first, thinking it might actually save me time cutting in. I don't know how the hell they did what they did in the infomercial videos, but that's not how this product performs in real life. When I tested the paint edging tool, I found many flaws which I designed improvements to, but won't get into that here. Basically the major flaws are as following: -The hand-held one has a hand opening that would be too small even for the adolescent Asian who built these in a factory somewhere... -The cheap, $1 injection molded plastic has flashing on it still and sharp edges that literally scrape the skin off of your hands when you put them in and out of the handle ( I have fairly small hands too!). -The pole-mounted edger which I was excited about doesn't work at all! It is designed to apply paint to the inside corner where a wall meets a ceiling, yet the center pivot applies no pressure to that edge, thus not covering said target area after many passes, and also creating a thick bead of paint at the trailing edge of the roller. On top of that, if you try to feather out this bead with the Accubrush, the rollers leave huge lines in the paint you finally got where you wanted it after 10 passes! -Since you already have a brush out to get into all the corners, it is quicker to cut-in by hand than to keep hinging the shield out of the way, carefully loading the roller in the joke tray that is 1/4" wider than the tool, and you probably cant hold in your hand while you work w/o spilling. GET A GOOD BRUSH AND A HANDI-PAIL AND F'N DO IT BY HAND IF YOU WANT IT TO LOOK GOOD! -Among other things, the tool is left-handed for cutting in to the ceiling which is usually the only color boundary from a wall! -If you are still reading this for some reason, other problems include expensive proprietary rollers, paint build-up under wheels (no access to clean), paint shield that rides adjacent wall can leave marks on that wall( it marred the crap outta mine). I'm tired of writing stuff here, bottom line is that this looks great, I watched a full 30 min of You-tube vids on it before purchasing it, and when I tested it out, I was grossly disappointed, and f'n appalled at the ridiculous sale price for this piece of imported junk that probably cost $15 to make!

I bought it and used the XT to paint 6 rooms with it. I have to say it works in very good conditions nicely as advertised. However, when you are doing a paint job, a lot of times you don't have the perfect condition to work with. I'm going to tell you what is *not* advertised. You are going to have to blue-tape a wall's (4) inner corners. In addition, I found that the XT when used together with a 5-gallon bucket and a roller grid, the XT roller release almost always dips into the paint as well. As a result, you *have to have* paper towel wiped clean the release button after you dip into the bucket - every single time. Also, because of how *easily* the XT drips paint out of the roller when used against the ceiling, I *strongly* suggest you blue-tape all bottom South-side baseboards and what not *all the way*. That's right, all you're saving is from taping the West, North, and East middle sections on any given wall and trims. Also, while this tool does the edges quite well, be prepared to keep the wall/ceiling side metal and wheels dry and clean. Especially the wheels. Otherwise when the wheels walk on the wall that you don't want paint on... you get the idea. Again, kitchen towel is your other friend. After you edge your wall (say ceiling) with this tool, I suggest you use a/the roller to even out the edges that the tool just introduced before it dries out. Just like a professional painter(s) would, one guy does the edging while the other guy follows him and paint the rest while the paint is wet. Otherwise you will run into some problem with the paint not even out (or flat out). The (3) pieces of connecting wooden stick is a joke. I used it for half a wall and the interconnecting plastic broke. Get a real extension at Home Depot. You also have to learn how to angle your extension (about 15-20 degrees) to get maximum leverage to walk the tool smoothly. So in summary, you have to keep the tool as clean as possible (yes talking about during a paint job), have plenty of kitchen towel to wipe off any excessive paint, and you still need painter's tape. Other than that, this tool does save you time for all the edging, at least in my case.

1. Wanted the product quickly as we were in the middle of a paint project in our kitchen. Product delivered on time with no issues, damage, missing items etc. Came just as promised. 2. Product worked as advertised. After reading some reviews, the main thing I found/confirmed is that you need to load up the roller for it to work correctly. Keep another roller near by until you get the hang of it. If you load it too much and get a run, you can clean it up with the other (dry) roller. 3. Realize it can't get into tight corners. So what? It saved me so much time on the rest of the walls, cutting in the corners felt like a breeze. 4. Product is well built, well thought out. I do have one recommendation though for the hand held unit. Put the same guide rollers on it that the pole mounted unit has. It's less easy to use as it doesn't glide nearly as smooth as the pole mounted unit. Great product! Thanks for the great service too!

all right, I generally don't write reviews but for this one, I though I should. there are many negative reviews that I don't agree at all. I'm not a professional painter but a software engineer. So I'll try to give a very clear review of this product with pros and cons... I'll first start with CONS: - Of course, way too pricey for a plastic, made in China, product. - doesn't paint in corners at all. it leaves a gap of about 3-4 inches that you'll have to use a brush. - they claim that the XT model for professionals and is pole mountable. But, when using with the pole mount, it dangles and very difficult to paint the ceiling angles. It'll drop most of the paint on your face if you are not careful :) ...and now PROS: - Saves time. I mean a lot of time. - Finishing is awesome and simply great as oppose to taping the edges. Seriously, I think I was blessed for not having to tape all around. - I have a good size bedroom... ~14'X18' with a small den/coffee room. It took me approx 13-15 minutes to complete all the ceiling edges. Other tips: - Use a large tray instead of using the one that comes with it. You'll be creating a mess with small tray. - if you can handle it with pole mount, go for it. I'd prefer stepper. Suggestion for manufacturer if they are reading the review: - work on making the pole mount handle more stiffer so that it don't dangle. - there must a ability to push down the roller to fully use the paint on brush. - plastic looks too week and cheap. I'm mostly nervous whenever I use it with a fear to break a $100 item. - work on price or bring down the IP license cost so that other can manufacture better product.

I have been searching for a method to cut in paint for years. I bought the Accubrush with trepedation after so many other ideas had failed. I was pleasantly surprised at the results. After a few practice swipes I was painting like a pro. I bought the kit with both edgers because I had a lot of paining to do. I started with the XT and was surprised at the ease of use. I did an entire room in half the time I usually take. Although saving time is of value what I really like was the consistant straight lines at the ceiling. Trimming around windows is not only fast but fun. This tool is so slick it makes me smile when I use it. I was very proud of the finished project. On the next room I decided to try the MX because it was a small room. I wasn't as impressed. For some reason it didn't yeild the same results. I think the rear wheel loaded up with paint too soon and didn't allow the brush to do its magic. The finish was better than any previous method I've used which amounts to more work and more tape. I will stick with the XT in the future. My family is so impressed, everyone wants to borrow it to paint their house. If you are on the fence about the Accubrush you should try it. I think the reviews are all positive and the results speak for themselves. I have never written a review on any product before but I was impressed enough to draft this for the Accubrush.

I am a seasoned handyman around homes. I decided to try this system to see if it would help me accelerate my painting job completion times. Product is made of grade of plastic that doesn’t hold up well to repeated use. When attaching pole, product doesn’t behave and keep straight lines; requires more pressure against edger than it can tolerate. Lines are left behind and you end up having to repair you wall before you can proceed. The handheld system didn’t perform much better; the nap of the included rollers isn’t sufficient and easily sheds the roller nap. By the way, as the video alludes to, you end up having to brush anyway, because the unit doesn’t roll all the way to the end of the wall, into the corners. Further, rollers didn’t stay attached to the system consistently; when they did, they would sometimes not want to roll easily, opting to scoot and leave smears. The little wheels somehow became displaced and the unit wouldn’t roll properly during painting. The supplied pole is not even close to being adequate for this application. This product is extremely difficult to clean after use, which makes reusing it even more problematic. I really gave it my total patience and beared through the problems, but in the end, this system ended up costing more time and money than just investing in quality brushes and rollers for cut-in work. Save time and money, do your research and learn from Idaho Painters on you tube; buy some quality paint and tools; properly prep your work area; work patiently; you’ll thank your self and save money. If it weren’t a few days past the return date, I would return this nightmare.

I had several rooms to paint and not a lot of time, so I searched, researched, and bought this $100 kit, rationalizing that it was a lot cheaper than hiring a painter. In short, due to its shortcomings, it didn't save me that much time, if any. And it certainly isn't worth anything like $100--more like $25. If that was the price point, I would be nicer. What is does well: 1) Cuts down on what you have to mask, and this is no small deal. I don't like the expense and time of masking, so this was the best thing for me. 2) Keeps paint off the wall/trim/window that you're trying to avoid. You do need to keep checking the guard after each dip to make sure it is paint free. Where you will have to catch some clean up is when the roller drips down onto the baseboard or floor below. 3) Paints a reasonably straight line, though it varies based on the wall texture Where it fall short: 1) Bulky and long; keeps it from getting anywhere near the corners. This forces lots of fill in work with a brush or pad 2) Unwieldy with the pole extension. Difficult to position up against the ceiling for top-of-wall work due to the way the tool hangs 3) Wheel marks; while the line it paints is pretty nice, the tool left consistent and noticeable wheel marks that I had to touch up with a brush. This is the biggest hit--if you have to jump up on the ladder with a brush and touch up all the space you just painted, how much time are you really saving? 4) Value; First of all, there's no real reason to have both the XT and the MX. If you're sold on this system, at least get a cheaper set than this one. Next, after looking at all of the components, it should cost no more than 20 or 30 bucks anyway. I ended up giving up on this after one room and doing the rest of my job with a $15 Home Depot edger that did a similar job and got into the corners a lot better.

I worked with it half an hour but it did not a good job. I did the job with a Shur-Line brush and it was easy and well done. I don't recommend to spend so much money for this scrap . I want to return it. What have I to do ? Thank you, Raymond Manny

Would be more effective if I just gave my 7 month old baby a paint brush. very messy finish. I have 20+ years experience as a decorator.

I bought this kit thinking that it would help a lot in painting of my house but it made it more difficult and time consuming. This accubrush may work fine in a first pass but any overlap would leave marks from wheels and edge on the of the mini brush so it needs correcting. The roller shafts are of some odd size so can't be reused with a regular paint roller handle. It was a complete disappointment to me.

One of the guide wheels broke within the first 10 mins of use. Sent it back for a refund
