We bought the twin size blanket for our son who kept complaining about his bedroom being too cold. The blanket works very well, warms up the bed perfectly at just the medium setting and is very comfortable!! No wires that you can feel, the only difference from a regular blanket is just the feeling of a thin sheet of plastic layered within the blanket. We place the blanket on top of a flat sheet, and add a comforter over the blanket to weigh it down, since it is so light. Our child sleeps much, much better and no longer complains about his room being cold at night. Now we do not have to turn the thermostat way up to get his room warm while overheating the rest of the house!I think people who say that their Soft Heat blanket doesn't feel warm at all MIGHT have placed the blanket with the wrong side up. The manual says that the side with the 'Use and Care' instruction label on the blanket should be facing up, and that you must sleep under the blanket to experience the warmth. It is not the same as a heating pad and will not feel warm to the hand's touch.The pre-heating feature can be deactivated by any adjustment of the dial. For example, our blanket is set on level 5, and when we press the 'on' button, we then turn the dial to 6 and back down to 5 where it will stay. This prevents the blanket from preheating to Hi before settling at the level you want. The information is all in the manual -- read it, and the product should work fine for you!This SoftHeat microfleece blanket is made by Perfect Fit Industries (you can google their website to find product manuals). The Amazon website description says 'Luxury' microfleece, but the item I received from Amazon just said 'SoftHeat microfleece blanket' on the packaging, without the word 'luxury', so for those who want to do price-comparisons, I think this is probably the exact same product as 'SoftHeat' blankets sold elsewhere, and I think Amazon has the best price.

You can barely feel the wire. The light weight blanket stays puts and doesn't slide around like those super soft, velure, fuzzy type do. Controls are simple. Keeps you warm.And the price was great.

JUNK!!!!!!Broken again. I have tried 4 times to buy one of these blankets and every time there is something wrong.What a pricey disappointment. The blanket material is very nice. I will say that. Nice as in it is very thick and soft. It would be a great everyday blanket if it wasn’t for the price tag. That is where the one star comes from. It is very expensive for a normal blanket that does not heat.The blanket was plugged in- in my living room over my coffee table first to test it. It was plugged in and on HI for about 30 mins. And I did not feel any heat. I left it and had my husband go and check on it in another 30 mins and he said it was still not warm.I moved it to my bedroom. Plugged it in to a wall socket alone. Laid it out over my bed and let it sit on HI for an hour. When we went to bed I got under it and it was still not warm. Not even a little. You know what was really warm? The little rectangle box that was between the wires and the plug. That sucker was HOT! I should have put it under my blanket.For all positive reviews and the fact that it was rated high on a lot of websites, I expected it to work. Especially for the price. Average price of $110. I can find a Sunbeam for half that- that actually works.Bottom line: The blanket is thick and soft- I loved that. I really wanted it to work. The box got so hot that made me nervous too. Returning it.The search continues…UPDATE:I purchased 3 in total and each of them had issues with the plugs/ prongs. And the little box thing got super hot on all of them. That made me nervous. To me this is a quality control issue. I am disappointed. I really wanted to keep this blanket but I truly do not feel safe using it.Also there is a weird crinkle sound from two of the blankets (one was a twin and one was a full) that would be very annoying to hear all the time. The first blanket I tried did not have that crinkle paper sound. So that is another curious thing about his blanket.Posted a photo of the box that got really hot. Bought this blanket for my wife. She really loves it. Great during winter nights. Looks like a comfy fleece blanket. Does not look like an electric blanket. I am going to buy another.

This blanket is so warm even with heat off that I haven't yet switched to my winter (goosedown) duvet! The heat function works quickly to warm my bed. My only caveat is while it's soft, it's not super-plushy-soft. I am a sucker for super-soft blankets.

I've had mine for 2 or 3 years, and one of the controllers stopped working, so I bought a new one for backup. I just took one of the controllers off the new one and plugged it into the old one and it works fine again. I have had many Sunbeam blankets and throws. They never last. They don't even last the whole winter season. This is the only heated blanket I've purchased that's lasted more than 6 months. It's very comfortable, good heat, the wires are thin so it doesn't feel clunky. Best electric blanket I've ever owned.

I purchased the single size and after a winter season of use I am extremely satisfied with it ! With the bedroom at about 18 deg. C ,I usually set it for about a "2" and am amply warm all night . (the settings are : Lo,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,Hi ) I think you would probably cook above "5" setting unless you shut the heat to your room. It turns out that the blanket is quite warm even if it is not turned on. When on it's a nice even heat .Attached is a graph of the blanket in an 19 deg. room for 10 hrs. It maintained about 24 deg. when set to "Lo". Set at "2" it averages 26 deg, at 5 it is 32 deg. ( note these reading were taken under the blanket which was also covered by a Duvet at the time )The Blanket draws about 70 to 76 W ( about .7 A) initially steady to help it quickly warm up then pulses on/off (silently I might add) to maintain the set temperature. Because it has an electronic (not mechanical) temperature control I have to press the on button manually rather than being able to remotely turn it on to pre-warm the bed (I shouldn't be complaining about this1st world problem) , no big deal , I was expecting that , and It has a fast warm up time as far as I'm concerned. Auto shut-off after 10? hrs. is a good feature. A great purchase overall.
