A good book for a new guinea pig owner
I bought this book for my 5-year-old granddaughter when she got her new guinea pig, Coconut. We read the chapter headings and looked at the photos together, and then she chose subjects that she wanted me to read to her in greater detail. It contains good information on feeding and care. We especially enjoyed the section on teaching your guinea pig tricks!

Guinea Pigs (APL Pet Care Library)
I borrowed this book from the library after adopting a Cavy (Guinea Pig.) I liked it so much, I decided to buy one. It is very informative and detailed. For instance; Guinea Pigs are not Pigs, nor are they of the Swine Family. They are Cavies. (Cave - ees.) This book only rated four stars because it lacked One item I considered Vital Info.: How to identify the Gender of your Cavy. All books I read on Cavies recommend keeping @ least TWO Cavies, as they are social animals. But you don't want to keep a male & a female together, unless you want a "gazillion" babies. (Yes, Cavies are of the same Order (Rodentia, although there is a debate about this.)as Rabbits.) Rabbits, Mice, Rats, and others, are considered "Rodents", and multiply very rapidly. Other than this oversight, this is an excellent book, filled with color pics, and vital info. Highly Recommended.

Its nice to have, But Not Needed
This book i kind of cool to have and read, but if you have Internet connection you can learn everything in this book. So its nice to have, but you really don't need it.Also for the fact that the info is on the web, this book should be much cheaper than what i payed for. I am paying for consolidating the knowledge in one book, but even that it seems like it is missing somethings.

"OK" book
This is the first book I purchased after getting my new Guinea Pig. It is very informative on how to take good care of your pet. I still am though, going to check out other Guinea Pig books as well to see how they compare. One thing about this book is that it talks about the "show" Guinea Pigs. Meaning how to take care of your pet when you want to enter it in a show. I just want the "pet" side of it. I dont plan to enter my pet guinea pig in a show any time soon. I actually never knew they even have Guinea Pig shows!Bottom line, good book overall, just some sections you would skip and get to the pet side of things.

Not quite as expected...
The book is fine inside: very few marks - hence the reason I am keeping it. However, the outside of the book, in my opinion, is heavily marked- which is not what was advertised- it was advertised as having 'light markings'. There is large child's writing above the title which is clear to see, some bubbling of the cover on the front, and a small rip the near the spine. It took weeks to arrive, which was advertised as such when I purchased it.

Great Book with all information you need
I absolutely love this book. It tells me everything I need to know about my guinea pigs as well as what they need. There is a section telling you about the origin of guinea pigs, and helps you to find out what guinea pig you have (if you didn't all ready know). I rate this book 5 star, and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting guinea pigs, or already have guineas. I personally already got my 3 guinea pigs when I purchased this book, and regret doing so. Wish I had this book at the beginning, so I could have got everything they needed. Now I know how many times to feed them, and I know they need a bigger cage then what they have.

Good information for new owners
Good book that covers pretty much everything about Guinea pigs. Not a book you'd necessarily read from cover to cover but great for reference and full of useful tips and info.
