The technology produces a thin film (1 micron) which creates a hydrophobic surface that repels water, dirt, stains from leaves and fish blood. Top Coating with Liquid Crystal Armour will help reduce maintenance, increase the longevity of the boat’s surface and is the next generation of boat maintenance. Independent laboratory testing along with extensive in-field studies show that Liquid Crystal Armour provides 12-18 months of surface protection and gloss retention. Unlike wax, Liquid Crystal Armour creates a hard coating and protects the boat from UV damage that penetrates the surface of the vessel. Wax tends to break down quickly, and is a short-term solution before the surface deteriorates and needs to be rewaxed.
