Bland translations.
The translations are bland, and only get to convey a fraction of the strength of Bolivar's passion in the Spanish original. I recommend trying the work of other translators, such as Lewis Bertrand's in Selected Writings of Bolivar (1951).

Prepaare to be inspired
Inspiring writings by one of the world's greatest leaders. I found the book to be very engaging and provided me with new insights into the life and times of Simon Bolivar.

Introduction to the thought process of El Libertador
The separation of major and minor proclamations interferes somewhat in the historical flow. This work would greatly benefit from expansion to include more personal correspondence, and historical narrative. I can see such a work taking two or three large volumes. But, what this volume presents, gives a clear view of the evolution of Simon Bolivar toward the struggle for the regions independence from Spain. I highly recommend this book for the insights it does present.
